Bethel Baptist Church in Tate Township marks its 17th anniversary from March 25 to April 1, highlighted by special programs and open services. Mussey Protest Stirs ODT Probe and Death at Goshen Site

Mussey asks ODT to investigate labor collection in Clermont County. Gilbert Brodbeck 54 dies when a steel beam falls at a Goshen construction site. he worked for Fisher-DeVore of Norwood on an addition to Land O Goshen Market. Tax examiners will assist taxpayers at Batavia courthouse the week of March 26.

New white on green Ohio license plates with a safety reminder will be sold in 12 Clermont County locations starting Friday March 16 and ending by April 15. Water service failed in New Richmond for two and a half hours on Tuesday cutting school activities short as workers repaired the shortage.

Man Slain At Home Of Ex Wife In Williamsville

Police investigate the fatal shooting of 43 year old Ralph D. Mobley at 2518 Woodville Pike. Ex husband Herbert Doughman 68 confessed to firing the fatal shot after Mobley allegedly threatened him and cursed occupants at the home of Mobley’s former wife Thatta Mobley 44. The shooting occurred about 3 30 a m Monday.

Judge Helps Jan Nab Slow Artful Dodger

Former Batavia resident Jan Hodges chased a purse snatcher into County Judge David Orosz who stopped and arrested the 13 year old. Hodges recovered $32 and belongings while the youths faced charges of running away strong armed robbery and carrying a concealed weapon.

Police Radio Equipment Grants To Milford And Loveland

Milford and Loveland receive grants from the Chief of Economic and Community Development under the Omnibus Crime Control Act for police radio equipment. Milford gets 5555 dollars for three mobile and four portable radios with 1852 dollars in local matching funds. Loveland gets 5918 dollars for three mobile radios and three base radios with 1973 dollars in local matching funds. The Loveland Police Department administers the grants.

Grand Jury Expands Stolen Auto Conspiracies

A grand jury expanded charges in 17 secret indictments involving stolen cars. Luther Williams and D Schmid faced multiple counts including possession and disposal of stolen vehicles, with bonds set at 7000 and 4000 dollars respectively. Spies received five counts plus a conspiracy charge with ex dealer John Parsons. Additional indictments listed include Metz, Reinhardt, Warman, Riley, Henson, and others, while Hogel and Kermos saw no indictments after dismissal or missing counts.

Hospital Bid Action Delayed over Milling Milhaven Extension

Clermont County Hospital Commission delays action on 55 equipment bids while tabulation is completed to identify lowest and best bidders. An extension of Milhaven Drive to the hospital site is approved to improve access from Bauer Road and SR 32, with an outlet to the Appalachian Highway. A deed restriction requires paving by March 1974 or land reverts, guiding the decision.

Medi-Copter Transports Injured Man After Car Incident

A man injured while repairing his car was flown by Medi-Copter to Christ Hospital. Roger Totten, 28, of Mapleleaf Drive Milford, suffered chest injuries when the car fell. Milford Life Squad arranged the airlift. Totten listed in fair condition next day. Clermont County squads connect to Hamilton County for Medi-Copter dispatch.

Voters OK 3.5-Mill Renewal in New Richmond

Voters in New Richmond approved a 3.5 mill operating levy in a special election with 210 yes and 70 no. The levy raises $3.50 per thousand in property tax valuation and needed 55 percent to pass. Approval allows borrowing against next year’s tax receipts to preserve village services.

Batavia Township Trustees schedule a public hearing March 29 at Batavia Township Hall to consider Amherst Nursing Home Inc and Hodges requests for 60.368 acres from Agriculture A to B-1 and 86.416 acres from Agriculture to B-2 at Herald Rd and the Appalachian Highway near the new Clermont County Hospital. Planning Commission supports the change while Batavia Zoning Commission recommends denial. trustees will decide. Meeting starts at 7 30 p m.

Tanker Explodes On Aber Road Causes Major Fire

Four fire departments battled a spectacular blaze on Aber Road last Wednesday March 7 when a Gulf Oil Co tanker spilled gasoline and overturned near US 50. The crash destroyed a garage and car at Mrs Emma Robben’s home, knocked out electricity, and briefly blocked traffic. Driver Late J Osborne 57 of Harrison crawled free with minor injuries. he misrouted from SR 133 to Aber Rd while en route to Winchester. Fire units from Owensbville Williamsburg Fayetteville and Wayne Township contained the fire and saved the house.
