Easter Seals Kick Off in Columbus Aids Volunteers

Nearly 400 volunteers gathered in Columbus for the Easter Seals Kick Off with remarks by Professor Neil A. Armstrong and a visit from Ralph Edwards. Ohio leaders including Major General Dana Stewart and Eugene P. O Grady urged greater statewide efforts as WLWC’s Jimmy Crum led the luncheon. The meeting highlighted committee work, workshops, and public support for the Ohio Easter Seal Campaign.

College Library Funds Released to Clermont UC Branch

Batavia Fellowship Schedules Lenten Services At First Methodist

Lenten services began Ash Wednesday March 7 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Herndon and Rev. Connelly leading. The Batavia Fellowship of Churches hosts weekly 12 30 p.m. services at First United Methodist Church with rotating leaders and speakers through April 11. Good Friday services April 20 include a 1 p.m. open church period and 7 30 p.m. cantata at Faith United Methodist Church directed by Mrs. Lahmann. Easter Sunrise is at Batavia High School 6 30 a.m. with breakfast at 7 a.m. in the cafeteria prepared by Fellowship members.

Emerson Reappointed to Clermont County Health Board

Emerson Mack a Goshen plumber was elected to the Clermont County Board of Health by the Health Advisory Council replacing Jacqueline Williams for a four year term. The council which includes 12 village mayors and township trustees also re elected its officers and heard the annual report from Deputy Health Commissioner Harvey Hines for Health Commissioner Dr Richard K Lancaster who was unavailable.

HUD Awards Contract For Housing Projects In Ohio

Clermont County MHA officials including Lloyd Llewellyn and Rev. Norman K. Dunlap met in Columbus to award a housing contract. Four Felicity duplexes will be built for elderly residents on Coffey and Main streets. New Richmond will receive eight two bedrooms twelve three bedrooms ten four bedrooms and five five bedroom units for low income families. Felicity units target completion in six months while half of New Richmond units should be ready within ten months. New Richmond sites are on Old US 52 in the village west end.

Minning Rates High In Ohio History Contest Finals

Carl Minning, son of Dr and Mrs Carl Minning of Batavia, ranked sixth in the finals of the Ohio University American History Contest. More than 10 000 high school seniors took the test, with 110 advancing to the Athens final on March 2 and 3. He is active in National Honor Society chess club science club and wrestling and captains Batavia’s It’s Academic team reaching the semifinals.

Judge Will Speak At GOP Fund Raiser Dinner
