Backhus Is Reappointed On County Health Board

The Clermont County Health Advisory Council reappointed Roger Backhus Amelia druggist to a five year term as board president. Richard Jamieson Batavia mayor was reelected chairman, Harley Clark Pierce Township as vice chairman, Patrick Craver Stonelick Township as secretary, with changes noted in past officers. The annual report by Ralph Frazier deputy health commissioner highlighted state law on landfill licenses and budget carryover of $9270.

John L. Emnsberger of Williamsville urged the county commissioners to build an access road linking Cherry Grove Plaza with nearby stores to ease traffic flow. He proposed removing highway buttons he says hinder turns into the shopping center and the panel agreed to discuss the matter.

Milford attorney Flack Douglas urged Batavia on progress toward a new state chartered bank saying 95 percent of area survey respondents favor added banking facilities. New Richmond Offers Adult Driving Class

New Richmond plans an adult driver education course if at least 10 enroll and pay $15 by March 15. Instructor William Thompson will lead sessions from March 18 to May 23, with classes on Mondays and Thursdays 3:30 to 6:30 and Tue/Wed 3:30 to 5:30, limited to small groups.

Rites Held For Marine Two Brothers Matthew Michael

Funeral services for Pfc. Roger Lyons USMC 19 killed in action at Quang Tri Vietnam Feb 9 were held Friday at Powers Nurse Funeral Home Amelia. Burial followed at Mt Moriah Cemetery. He was the son of Arthur and Loise Lyons of Amelia and a Amelia High School graduate. He had served in Vietnam since December and left three sisters Areva Tammy and Karen.

Fire causes tire explosions at Cherry Grove Kroger lot

A trash fire behind the Kroger at Cherry Grove Shopping Center on Monday was first reported as an explosion. Four tires on the rear of four parked semi trailers exploded due to the heat, according to Williamsville Fire Department assistant chief Peter Heckter.
