Town Teams Open Three-Day County Basketball Tourney
The American Legion sponsored County Basket Ball Tournament of the Town Teams opened at the Batavia Armory with out-of-town fans. Amelia beat Bethel 29 to 16, Batavia 83 to 14 over Williamsburg, and Owensville 38 to 19 over Loveland. Monday Amelia 23, Owensville 32. Milford 40, Batavia 18. Milford beat Owensville in the final night match. Attendance was lower than expected due to overworked basketball schedule.

Amelia High Team Reign On Debut Floor Wins Both Games
On Friday night March 9 Amelia High School visited Milford and swept both games on the new gym floor. The girls won 28 12 and the boys 88 8. The piece recalls Milford beat Amelia boys in a Batavia tournament by one point on a disputed shot it notes was not supposed to count.

Man Ends Life in despondent act near Cincinnati
Albert Siebel a 55 year old widower from Bates Avenue Cincinnati visited his sister Mrs Chris Weisenborn in New Richmond last week. He had been ill and despondent and on Thursday evening at 8 he shot himself in the right temple with a .22 revolver, dying instantly. His body was taken to the White Funeral Home and burial occurred in Spring Grove on Sunday.

Edwin Reed Campaigns Through Batavia on Republican Ticket
Edwin Reed, candidate for Lieutenant Governor on the Republican ticket, passed through Batavia Saturday morning en route to Radnor Ohio his home. He has just finished a two week canvass for his candidacy visiting the southern and southeastern parts of the state and is optimistic about his prospects. Reed ran for the same office four years ago and made a strong showing. We predict a successful campaign for him on this trip. He is a hard campaigner and the man that beats him will have to go some.

Bigger county fair planned with vocational exhibit
The Fair Board met at Owensville on March 7 to discuss a larger fair for Clermont County. A. H. Pekuri proposed a vocational exhibit for Bethel and Williamsburg high schools to showcase crops soils shop work and horticulture. 4 H club exhibits and livestock judging with cash prizes were planned with the County Agent. Man Dies in New Richmond After Unconscious Condition
Nicholas O Banion 64 of New Richmond died Saturday morning after being found unconscious in the transfer building waiting room on March 8. Autopsy at White Funeral Home arranged by Sheriff Croswell and Coroner Christopher to determine cause. Mrs Forest Ely hosted guests in his memory. Burial for Amanda Pate aged 80 at Martinaville after her funeral in Leipic on March 5 attended by M F Ross and Bila Ross of Bethel.

Batavia three weeks of revival meetings concluded Sunday night with a record audience. Each church held a week of services though church accessions were few. C. M.
