Ohio's Candidate for President Endorsed by Sixth District Delegates

The Republican committees from six counties met February 3 in Portsmouth to choose national convention delegates for Kansas City. Henry J. Bannon, Earl O. Hayes, Raymond Henderson, and George Jones were named as delegates or alternates. The meeting endorsed Senator Frank B Willis as candidate but pledged to vote for whomever had best chance if nominated. Later, two outsiders in Columbus picked two more delegates, prompting claims the party owes nothing to them. Willis denies seeking to hog tie delegates, asserting delegates are chosen by regular party organizations. Opposing delegates threaten disruption of the district GOP.
