Father Takes Son From Grandfather in Williamsburg
Williamsburg erupted in excitement Monday night when John Kuhn removed his young son from the home of Will Ely the child's grandfather who had raised him. Sheriff Kapp captured Kuhn and the child as they traveled through Batavia and held them for officers. After a conference Kuhn was allowed to continue on his way.

Miss Lizzie Keen died Thursday morning after weeks of illness in West Batavia aged 60. She and her brother Thomas had lived together here since coming to this place. Highly respected, her funeral was held Saturday at the home and she was placed in the Covington vault to await burial beside her parents.

Former Batavian General William H. Standish Dies near Reeds Spring
General William H. Standish former Batavia citizen died at his home near Reeds Spring Missouri on February 20 1928. He studied law in Batavia with Major Julius A. Penn father of Col. Penn and later practiced in Batavia and Cincinnati before moving west. Standish was a trusted militia and union volunteer and accumulated considerable wealth. He was a friend of the late J. P. Robinson.
