County sued over injuries from unsafe rock pile on Ohio pike

The Brown county jury awarded Mrs. Judd 942.20 for a broken rib after a buggy struck a rock pile placed along the Ohio pike by county workers last July. Attorneys sought 5000, but the case and related costs may reach about 1300 for the county, with further hearings for Mr. Judd. Taxpayers bear the final cost.

James O Maley, 70, son of Mrs John O Maley of Batavia, died at his Middletown home last Friday after a long Civil War service with company F 59th. He was wounded at Chicamauga and leaves a widow and three daughters. funeral from his home on Sunday. His brother Tom attended. His elderly mother remains in her nineties.

Clermont County Infirmary Directors Report Highlights Heavy Expenses

The Clermont County infirmary directors filed a semi annual report covering September 1, 1911 to March 1, 1912 with the county auditor. It shows 61 inmates at the start and 49 remaining on March 1, 1912. Expenses include 1162.86 for clothing and groceries, with 70.50 for stock feed and 202 for meat over four months. The cost per inmate averaged 77.47 while Brown County averaged 49.32. Five inmates died, ten discharged, one sent elsewhere. Critics call for lower costs and contracts to reduce waste and improve feeding.

George C. Jones of Pleasant Plain and Miss Gussie Yeomans of Goshen wed at the home of O B Cain near Morrow Warren county Ohio on March 6 1912 at 8 a m Rev G M Fulton conducted the Methodist Episcopal service in the presence of Frank Yeomans Goshen and Mrs O B Cain and Mrs G M Fulton. The couple then left for Morrow to catch a train for Columbus to be away about ten days.
