Clerk Breaks Jaw After Fall at Batavia Hardware
Jacob Anstead, a clerk at Rapp Hardware Store in Batavia, fell from a step ladder while securing a stove pipe. His head struck a stove pipe due to an unsecured brace. He received first aid and was taken to the hospital where he is healing, much to the relief of friends.

Batavia Teams Compete in Clermont County hoops event
Clermont county showcased five nights of basketball with Batavia defeating Mt. Crab town 62 to 31 and Williamsburg 24 to 14 on a busy midweek, followed by County Town Teams Tournament games. Friday results included Batavia 67 over Moscow 19 and Milford 41 beat Lafayette Hall. A World War compensation list for Clermont county dead and dependents was published with American Legion assistance offered.

Batavia defeated Owensville 47 to 15 to claim the County Town Team Tournament title after an exciting night at the Armory. Earlier Amelia beat Milford 42 to 19 in the preliminary, with both games drawing a large audience.

Man Dies After Taking Strychnine In Batavia
Charles H. G. Weaver 72, a widowed farmer, died Monday after taking two doses of strychnine. He visited his attorney E. C. Ely before dying. Coroner ruled death a self-inflicted case. Elton Weaver, his son, inherits the farm. Funeral at Moore Funeral Home Wednesday at 2 p.m. Burial Union Cemetery.

Dr J C Fitzpatrick to Attend Ohio Veterinary Conference
Dr. J C Fitzpatrick of Amelia will be away March 19 to 21 in Columbus attending the Veterinary Conference of Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Poultry Meeting Planned in Batavia on Friday
A county wide Grow Healthy Poultry meeting will be held in Batavia at the Odd Fellows Hall on Friday March 14. The program includes talks by County Agent Wilson and C M Ferguson on chick rearing problems diseases and parasites, Clyde F Tom on raising chicks, and a report on the Grow Healthy Poullet Project with Ohio State University extension expertise. The aims are to reduce chick mortality to ten weeks old increase good pullets and boost profitability with emphasis on clean conditions and management.

A state owned power shovel moved from Davis hill west of Batavia to a new Ohio river job. Work paused after landowner forbade further work until land purchase occurs. Baby Returns After Fire Injury In Cincinnati
Rosa Humphreys a 20 month old girl from Afton was returned home Saturday from a Cincinnati hospital nearly recovered. Mrs. Mabel Munsey Red Cross secretary arranged treatment and brought the child back. The Red Cross is aiding many dependents though many cases are kept private.
