Plans For City Phone Extend Service In Cincinnati Area

Batavia and Newtonsville exchange customers will be surveyed as part of a proposal for Extended Area Service. The plan, called EAS, would provide toll free calling between Batavia Newtonsville and the Greater Cincinnati area, expanding the local directory to include more telephones. Approximately 1600 Batavia and 1900 Newtonsville customers would be contacted amid rapid regional growth and rising calls to Cincinnati.

West Clermont approves pay raises for 216 degree holders

The West Clermont board of education adopted a new salary schedule giving raises of at least 350 to teachers with degrees and 300 to those without. Beginning bachelor degree teachers start at 4800, with masters earners up to 7654 after 14 years. Employment for next year is guaranteed, though a district operating levy was voted down.

Batavia coach Robert Clousson earns Coach Of The Year honors as Clermont County High School Athletic Association announces the 1964-65 All Star team. Grand Jury Indicts Four as Two Charges Are Ignored

The Clermont County grand jury returned four indictments against Otis Blakley for second degree manslaughter in the Harold Dickmeyer traffic death, Donald Staton and Charles Pursley for non support, and Ivan L. Miller for burglary tied to Nash Pharmacy and Esther Hughes. It found justifiable homicide in the Cecil Dugger shooting case involving James Dorsey, and said a New Richmond youth remains under juvenile jurisdiction for a May shooting death of his father. The panel did not pursue a second degree murder charge against Richard Partin or check charges against Arthur Morris. Sheriff Watson was commended for jail and juvenile detention upkeep.

Nike base inspection lists key officers at Felicity site

During a recent inspection of the Nike Hercules base at Felicity the lineup included Col Joseph Stabler of the Cincinnati Dayton Army Air Defense Command and Maj Gen Harrison A. Gerhardt of the U S Army Air Defense Command along with Brig Gen Justin W. Stoll and Lt Col Jason R. Grey. The standing officers include Capt Thomas L. Ricketts Capt Kendall Hamilton and Lt Col Frederick E. Roseman with Lt Col Thomas A. Herzog noted as the Ohio Air Defense Officer. The Ohio National Guard will assume base control on March 25.

Harsha Named to GOP House Policy Committee

Congressman William H. Harsha of Ohio is elected a member of the House Republican Policy Committee. He joins eight members from the East Central Region Ohio Kentucky West Virginia and will contribute to shaping the Republican program at the national level while serving his district in the 6th Ohio.

Whitt Appointed To Clermont Board Of Health

Matt Storch president of the Clermont Master Plumbers Association praised the appointment of J. B. Whitt, a charter member and Clermont County plumbing contractor, to the Clermont Board of Health. He said public health greatly depends on good plumbing and Whitt can offer valuable advice on related problems.

Health Board Sets Sewer Priority and Recaps Reorganization

Clermont County Board of Health at the March 7 meeting introduced new members J. B. Whitt and Roger Backhus and reappointed George Minnick as president. An emergency measure clarified procedures for connecting to the county sewer system. Priorities were set by health need, with Hopper Hill Mt. Washington East and Summerside as first tier. A 1958 plumbing permit refund request by W. J. Baisch was denied. The board noted a decrease in hepatitic cases but warned of impending influenza. Next meeting is April 1.

In Princeton high school action the Class A Southwestern District tourney semifinal pits top seed Springboro against New Miami at 7 p.m. followed by Country Day versus UC Fieldhouse contender. Burg, led by Ogletree with 21, advances to 22-0 after 60-46 win while Country Day rolls 68-41 over Bethel.

Escaped youths captured after wrecking stolen car

A 14 year old Mulberry youth and a 15 year old Milford youth were recaptured by Batavia Patrolman Charles Prine after wrecking a car stolen from Bernard Tinker Shelly Drive. Three youths started a fire to draw deputies and fled from a second story window after feigning faintness. Clermont County expands MGS Water system extending to 400 connections

Commissioners approve more service applications for the MGS Water System extension, with mains work on 27 streets starting this week. David Baxter hired as draftsman to map water sewer and gas lines. bids set March 26 for a pickup truck and a copying machine. Hilda Hines gains X-ray operator qualification at Chest clinic as 107 X-rays were taken last month and 14 clinic visits recorded.

Boy 8 Struck by Car on Rt 32 in Williamsburg

Eight year old William Anderson of 2878 Batavia Williamsburg Pike ran into the path of a westbound car on Rt 32 two miles west of Williamsburg at 12 35 p m Sunday. Driver Harry Schneider 69 of 153 Fifth Street Williamsburg said he braked and swerved but struck the boy. The child suffered a broken leg and head laceration and was transported to Children's Hospital Cincinnati by the Williamsburg Life Squad.
