Levy Rejected Third Time in Amelia and Williamsville District

The Amelia and Williamsville Tabasco area rejected a proposed operating levy 2127 to 1402. Only three of 22 precincts voted yes. This marks the third defeat of a school levy this year, with future consideration likely at the November general election after the district exhausted one annual special election limit. precinct results vary by location within Union and surrounding townships.

Amelia Methodist Sanctuary Crusade raises funds

Amelia Methodist Church completed a three year drive titled Sanctuary Crusade to raise 50000 in cash and pledges toward a 94000 sanctuary project. After six weeks of house visits, pledges collected by Feb 22 totaled 57053.60 as final tallies were tabulated.

West Clermont School District rejects 5.5 mill levy

In a special election Tuesday School Patrons of West Clermont voted 315 against and 2667 for the 5.5 mill operating levy. Passage required 55 percent. Glen Este Mt Carmel area gave the levy broad support with 10 of 15 precincts voting yes, but the margin there was still short of the 55 percent threshold.

Clyburn Named Public Information Director for Clermont Crusade

Ralph Clyburn of Batavia is named public information director for the Clermont County Cancer Crusade. Crusade chairman Charles P. Woods says the event will be held in April to raise funds for cancer research.

County refinancing saves Clermont County water system

Clermont County commissioners approve refunding MGS Water System bonds totaling 3 097 000 to refinance old issues dated 1959 and 1964. The move, expected to save 457 162 by 1999, will not alter water rates. Bondholders include state retirement boards. money from the sale will be invested in U S Treasury obligations held by First National Bank of Cincinnati.
