Bethel Town Restores Water After Pump Failure

A broken water pump disabled Bethel’s supply, prompting rationing and school closures. An auxiliary filter plant was brought in, the faulty pump sent to Cincinnati for repair, and normal operation resumed after about half the town’s 1300 students returned to classes. The village evaluates sewer plans costing 383000 with state permit underway.

Good Citizenship Merits Three High School Winners

The Beech Forest Chapter of the DAR will award three Good Citizenship medals at 2 pm on Saturday March 12 at Mrs. Elmer Weding’s home. Winners are Myrna Osborne Milford School Janet Fisher Williamsburg School and Edith White Goshen School. Mothers of the winners are invited guests. A paper by Lieut General A C Wedemeyer titled Safeguard of American jam will also be read.

Car Theft Solved Suspect Arrested

Robert Merrick a 36 year old ex convict was arrested in New Richmond Ohio for stealing Marian Spelman WLW T star’s car. Detectives say he duplicated keys after taking the car from a Walnut Hills garage. Merrick is jailed in Clermont awaiting grand jury action on breaking and entering.

Library appeals Clermont Budget action on tax proceeds

The Clermont County Public Library Board appeals the Budget Commission's 1955 classified property tax distribution, saying subdivisions received more than their share. Attorneys Rosenhoffer and Jackson filed the appeal via Clerk Hillard Aible. An earlier related appeal from last year is pending after a December hearing. The board seeks $38,640 reallocation to the library trustees.

Spinelli Opens Spinelli Heating and Air Conditioning

Rocco Spinelli of Vermona Drive Bummerside announces the opening of Spinelli Heating and Air Conditioning Company and his appointment as dealer for Armstrong and Torrid heat furnaces and air conditioning units. A Clermont Countian and Batavia high School alumnus, Spinelli served in the Mervee camp in World War II and spent four years with United Heating Company. He will specialize in domestic and commercial heating and cooling work, offers factory training, a mobile truck unit, and engineer services for complex problems. Spinelli is married with two children.

Hat fashion links judge and ranch owner in county scene

Tom Dix of the D-Y Ranch and Judge John H. Houston pose in distinctive hats. Dix bought a fancy Mexican western hat on a trip south of the border where he and his wife seek cowboy curios for the ranch. He presented the hat to Houston after the latter’s election as president of the ABC Shring Club.

Red Cross Aids Flood Victims Along Ohio River

Red Cross and state agencies coordinate evacuations for more than 200 families in New Richmond Moso cow Neville and other flood points as the Ohio River crests at 61.5 feet. Volunteers provide food and relief from a mobile canteen while teams move victims to relatives homes and shelter at Clermont County facilities. Charles Schneider leads the disaster effort with relief headquarters at Long Hill base.

Williamsburg High School Students Invited to Ohio Journalism Workshop

Six Williamsburg high school students will attend the tenth annual high school publications workshop at Ohio University in June 1925. Principal L. D. Lewis and adviser Marie Livengood will join, with sessions on newspapers, yearbooks, business, photography, and radio TV journalism led by Professor L. J. Horton. Dick Browne of Hi and Lois will discuss cartoonist art. three model papers The Workshopper The Streamliner and The Offset will be produced.

Batavia Business Men's Association Discusses Community Projects

At the Batavia Business Men's Association meeting on March 7 members discussed plans for the year including endorsing the group to care for and maintain the Community Nativity Scene and handle its financial obligations. A 15.83 acre parcel belonging to Curtis Day in East Day Heights, Miami Township, with 32 lots, was approved for recording. Bully Lane was dedicated but not yet accepted as a county road. A five acre tract in Union Township owned by J Opie Elliott was presented and approved. Shaylor Lane was dedicated but not yet approved as part of the Union Township highway system.
