Batavia defeated Amelia 31 to 19 to win the Boys’ Basketball Tournament at the Batavia Armory closing a three day event. Batavia has won the cup in six tournaments and large crowds attended. An exhibition girls game saw Bethel beat Williamsburg 19 to 16.

Batavia honors Captain Frank White the town’s oldest resident as he turns 98 on Tuesday at neighbor Joseph Homan’s home. He lives with his son Judge Charles White of the Clermont Common Pleas Court and is the last survivor of Company F, 59th C. V. C. in Clermont County. Friends extend many congratulations.

Free Band Concert For Unemployment Relief In Batavia
A benefit concert by the Cincinnati Commandery No. 3 Knights Templar Band is set for Friday March 6 at 8 p.m. in Batavia Town Hall with free admission and a free will offering to aid Batavia unemployment relief. Musicians from Cincinnati and Clermont County firms participate. John Hofer and the Musicians Protective Association support the effort. The program includes marches overtures and a dance with a note that children under 12 must be accompanied.

Fires Ravage Amelia Property On Grant Highway
In six weeks Amelia suffered multiple blazes along the Grant Highway between Cincinnati and Georgetown. The Beckler home near Amelia burned at 4 a.m. causing $8000 loss, Mrs. Mattie Stevenard’s West Amelia house also burned for $8000, and the rear of Gregor’s store lot belonging to R. Billingsley burned dropping $2000. Fire company fought the blazes, aiding the community despite heavy losses.

Coon Hunters Meet in Loveland Invites March Officers
Co on hunters from Southern Ohio gathered in Loveland on Friday February 27 with about 150 in attendance. State Fish and Game Commissioner A. H. Stuber spoke on hunting and distribution plans. Twelve for Clermont The health department backs 63 wells
The State Health Department urged the State Highway Department to drill 63 wells in the drought district of southern and southeastern Ohio. Engineers will locate and supervise the drilling, aiming to raise safety wells to 300, with Clermont county receive twelve wells on heavily traveled highways. Two state representatives visited Batavia to confer with Dr Colburn, the health commissioner. Drilling should start soon and the wells will be maintained by the Highway Department on highway ground, not village sites.
