Clermont County to form machine gun company unit
At the National Guard Convention in Columbus Ohio Major Rudolph of Batavia urged replacing the Williamsburg company with a machine gun unit. He highlighted the 8th battalion record at Camp Perry and urged local funding of a gymnasium and club room costing about 1000 dollars. Clermont residents will be asked to contribute as government funds cover only basics.

Box Found Beneath Williamsburg School Stone Sealed 1859
A sealed box embedded in the Williamsburg school cornerstone was unearthed by boys last Thursday. Inside, a 1859 Clermont Courier, Cincinnati Daily Commercials, a National Police Gazette, a child’s 2 by 2 inch Bible, fragments of a brewery crusade description, a Doctor Sharp Jr. signature, pennies from 1859, and a 1846 large copper penny survived remarkably.
