State To Acquire Bromfield's Farm Conservation Gem

The 59 acre Malabar Farm in Richland County will be donated to the state by the Noble Foundation of Oklahoma to preserve Louis Bromfield's Ohio history legacy. The plan calls for the Department of Agriculture to run the farm and Natural Resources to operate the manor house and other areas. Bromfield, Pulitzer Prize winner, started the project in 1939 to show sustainable farming and conservation. The estate attracted stars and writers until Bromfield's death in 1956 when the Malabar Farm Foundation took over.
