Court Refuses To Halt $2.3 Million Housing Project

Judge Schwartz allows the project to proceed after ruling a zoning notation was placed without the developer or trustees' knowledge. Robert Jones for trustees and Russell Speidel for Henry Gallenstein Jr. cite federal financing and FHA loan implications. Gallenstein notes a five day deadline to secure loan extension and $50,000 already spent on development of 122-unit apartments.

State To Purchase Little Miami Land

Ray Cutter announces $1 million state funds will buy land along the Little Miami River for park sites natural areas wildlife refuges and canoe access. Acquisitions will span Hamilton Clermont Warren and Greene Counties with $1.46 million in federal Scenic Rivers funds plus other sources.

Groundbreaking ceremonies for Amanda Acres I, a senior citizen development in Amelia, set for Sunday at 1 p.m. One block north of SR 125 on Cecelia Drive. Little Miami Plan Seeks Farm and River Museum

The Lower Council of Little Miami, Inc. will meet July 11 at 7 45 p m in the Mariemont Parish Community Center to discuss preserving the lower Little Miami River Valley. Daniel Porter and Dan Muter will present a model Farm concept and the idea of a Little Miami River Acclimation Museum, drawing on the Ohio River Museum in Marietta for inspiration.

Speed Heads Listing of Auto Mishaps

The Batavia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol reports June totals show 98 percent of 240 accidents due to speed. Twelve percent involved drinking drivers, one death, 119 injuries. Other causes include failure to yield, driving left of center, off roadway, mechanical failure, improper passing, turn, stopping or parking, and miscellaneous causes.

Chace Resigns as Clermont County Assistant Sanitary Engineer

Chace submitted resignation last week as assistant sanitary engineer to Donald Watkins. His letter cites poor communications between the county commissioners and the Sanitary Engineer department and notes he will receive two weeks of vacation pay. Storch has begun work in Owensville on the MGS sewer project.

Headstart Seeks Classrooms Across Clermont County

Mrs. Judy Hunt head of an all year Headstart program is asking for donated space to host six to eight classes in Milford-Goshen Batavia Williamsburg New Richmond and Felicity areas. The six hour daily program runs October through May serving 100 to 120 children ages 3 to 6 from low income families. In a June 29 meeting the Clermont County Park Board rejected both bids for a shelter and offices at SR 132 south of Batavia. They will re-advertise while awaiting comparative figures. Amelia-Batavia sewer work nears completion with August 8 connections. MGS sewer taps open for Owensville area with winter readiness for new water service near Afton hospital site. Missler-Gibson Construction Co. Newark submitted a bid of 261604 dollars.

Four Held In Bethel Fire Probe

Four Bethel area residents face arson charges after investigators linked two June 18 fires to gasoline. Defendants Fletcher 19, Dumford 19, Veatch 21, all of Bethel, and Banks 25 of Hamersville are named. One blaze destroyed a South Union Street storage building owned by James Edwards. the other burned a Spring Street barn used as a city garage. Fletcher and Dumford are charged with both fires. Banks and Veatch are charged only with the South Union Street fire.

Harsha Honored by Ohio Elks Hall of Fame

U S Representative William H Harsha receives a plaque and Hall of Fame honor from the Ohio Elks Association.
