Wayne Johnson, 30, of New Richmond, suffered arm fractures and possible internal injuries when his car was struck by a truck on state route 222 near Nicholsville. He was hospitalized at Our Lady of Mercy in Mariemont by Lew F. White ambulance. Hall Stephenson, 21, of Summersville Ohio, received a $25 fine and costs from Mayor Foster Altman of Felicity for driving to the left of center.
Judge Harry Britton in Common Pleas Court appointed Mrs Velma Mariott and Mrs Mab el Clifton both of Felicity Mrs Martha Boehm of Georgetown and John Simon of Chile as church trustees for the Flat Rock Holiness Church near Nev ille He also instructed them to name a replacement for Alex Sizemore who resigned The action followed a dispute between rival church factions The new trustees voted to retain pastors Rev B Lee and Rev J W Martin for two years
Ohio General Assembly approves a 35000 appropriation for Stonelick improvements. A new rule shifts birth and death registration to the county board of health effective July 30. At a June 20 meeting the board designated Mrs. Virginia Hill as county registrar for the county.
The Ohio State Department of Education in Columbus informed Moscow, Ohio that its high school charter will be extended for one year to July 1, 1952. A district consolidation is possible but no official notice has been received.
Dixie Lee Gullett aged 13 died from injuries after falling from her father’s truck and being crushed by a toppled water tank on state route 232 near Salt Air. Funeral services were held at Kennedy Funeral Home and she received treatment from Dr. A. A. Gruber before dying at Christ Hospital.
The St Bernardette Mission barn near Amelia was struck by lightning during a thunderstorm, destroying a large barn on the property. Fire Chief Francis Strevenard led the response with Amelia and Withamsville crews. A new Withamsville fire truck got stuck in traffic, delaying access for about 30 minutes. Deputy Sheriff John S. Woods helped clear paths for additional equipment. Loss was estimated at about $5000 by Father Bernard H. Piening.
J. R. Erdman vice mayor of New Richmond and annexation committee member has announced his candidacy for mayor in the upcoming election.
Roy C. Thompson, principal of the New Richmond School, will serve as the Clermont County Teachers association delegate to the National Education Association Convention in San Francisco from July 2 to 8. He will attend as the association’s chosen representative.
Dorsey Haas, 42, of Cincinnati, died at Bethesda Hospital after his car left state route 125 between Bantam and Mt. Holly and plunged about 40 feet into a creek bed. James Earnest of Georgetown, a passenger, was uninjured. Haas was transported by Kennedy ambulance per Clermont County Sheriff Clyde Dericks.
Charles P. Taft of Cincinnati will headline the first Vesper Service at 5 p.m. Sunday at the Starlite Drive In along Route 125 between Bethel and Amelia. Taft has served on Cincinnati City Council and the Federal Mediation Board and holds leadership roles in the Ohio and national bar associations and church bodies. His topic is The Church and the World Today.
The $30,500 from the Clermont County Experimental Farm sale was turned over to County Treasurer John P. Friend for distribution among county schools. Payments, based on average daily membership certified by Ohio Department of Education, totaling. At 10 30 on Sunday June 24 the Rev E B Brewster spoke at St Johns Services at the Williamsburg Methodist Church. The services were well attended by the Masons of Clermont Social Lodge No 29 F and A M.
In 1951 Clement County Red Cross drive Elmer Kramer reports 90 percent of the county quota met. Total contributions amount to 7968.77, up 3000 from last year. George B. Anderson of Chilo Ohio in Company A Fifteenth Infantry Regiment receives promotion to corporal. He is the son of Mrs Velvie Anderson and has served in Korea for seven months.
