June Wedding Unites Miss Kathleen Wise and William Winemiller
Miss Kathleen Wise daughter of Rev and Mrs George Wise wed William G Winemiller of Coldwater Michigan and Batavia Thursday evening June 20 at the Owensville home. The ceremony featured a candlelit altar, choir of readings and a Mendelssohn march. After a reception the couple departed by motor for New York and eastern points, with a mid July return to Coldwater Michigan for a homecoming visit.

G A R En Campment Draws 800 Veterans to Lancaster
The 62nd annual G A R encampment in Lancaster drew over 800 Civil War veterans with an 800 strong parade preceding a full schedule. Attendees included an 99 year old veteran and a strong showing of men over 80, as officials reported large crowds and festive events centered in Lancaster.
River and Harbor official visits Batavia on flood plan
Brigadier General Thomas Q. Ashburn of Washington D C head of the River and Harbor Commission tours the south covering about 2500 miles of river. He proposes fuse boxes and spillways to prevent levee flooding by diverting water before floods reach the levees, likening the idea to a fuse blowing to protect the system.

The Star Uniform Co, after buying Batavia Overall Factory, staffs 20 workers from novices to veterans, with a $350 weekly payroll and output of 100 dozen. Batavia native Richard Dial captain and first baseman of the University of Cincinnati Bearcats travels to Indianapolis on June 21 to sign with the American Association team there. Dial played three varsity sports at Cincinnati and recently joined the Sieblers before moving to the Indians. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Dial of Batavia and is praised for a bright future. Band Concert Cut Short by Heavy Rain
A heavy rain Friday night ended the band concert early as lights went out at the close of the ninth number. The weather stayed threatening. no intermission was held. Joseph Kidd and Edmund Parrott have aided the band and are hoped to stay for the season. Chairs will be arranged in the courthouse yard for those arriving without cars.

Alfred Robinson Glancy, a native of Miamiville and son of Augustus Glancy, has become president of the Oakland Division of General Motors. Ten Years Sentenced for Georgetown Filling Station Hold-Up
Chester Henry 18 and Homer Cook 17 with three youths and two girls pleaded guilty to the Georgetown filling station holdup weeks earlier. Each received 10 years in Mansfield Reformatory and are serving time. They relieved Swearingen of the receipts while he tested a battery on the floor. The group fled to State street and were later arrested in Manchester and Portsmouth. Two men and a woman and a man were held as material witnesses on cash bonds. The two men admit guilt and say others did not know the plan.

Saturday night patrolman Chas. Weat saw a Ford Coupe at his Ten Mile Avenue home entrance. A man claimed he waited for a buddy to fetch water. Weat found tires being removed from a second auto. The thief fled on foot firing two shots. both occupants escaped. A memorandum book was later found in the Ford.
