Merchant Passes in Amelia After Brief Illness
D. E. Hutson a respected Amelia merchant died at his daughter's home last Thursday after a brief illness. He ran a mercantile business with son Roy and left five children including Mrs. W. O. Robingon of Batavia. Funeral from his daughter's home Sunday at 2:30 conducted by Rev. F. H. Russell. Burial at Bethel. Services were largely attended.

School start date set for Clermont County pupils
The Clermont County Board of Education approved a plan in regular session on July 2 to begin all county schools on September 10 to complete four months before Christmas. Robert Lee Allen, born January 7, 1875 in Grayson County Central Kentucky, was a longtime educator and lawyer who died June 29 near Hamilton Ohio after a car crash while en route to a Golden Wedding anniversary. He served in the Third Kentucky Infantry during the Spanish American War and was active in oil industry work later in life. He was survived by six brothers and three sisters and left a legacy tied to Abraham Lincoln in character and loyalty.

Auto collision near Half Acre ends in fatality
On a moonlit Tuesday night the Story brothers in an auto struck a carriage carrying Mrs Hannah Moore and Mr and Mrs Hartman near Half Acre schoolhouse. Mrs Moore died Thursday from apoplexy believed linked to the crash. Injured parties were cared for at home as charges await against the auto driver.

Ruby Lee Henderson daughter of Howard and Mabel Henderson died June 24 1928 in Batavia after a three month illness. Born May 6 1922 she was baptized June 7 with her brother James joining the M E church. Her death mourned by family friends and a wide circle as she cherished nature and outdoor life and faced illness with faith and grace. The family thanks Rev Burdsall Miss Bessie Walker and others for support and prayers during their loss.

County Commissioners Approve Bills at Special Session

Rev. David E. Platter of Cleveland visits batavia for his brother Joseph who is in his 90s. John D. Platter dies in Peebles after illness, age in thirties, other siblings Andrew and a sister Sarah also die aged 82. John Platter, an old Adams County resident, ancestor Peter Platter was a Revolutionary War soldier from Washington County Pennsylvania. Both Joseph and John served in the Civil War.

Clermont county had previously closed the machines by order of Governor Donahey with Sheriff Fred Croswell enforcing the closure.
