A County Baseball League game at Goshen Sunday afternoon features Goshen defeating Amelia 3-2 as Boots Kinner drives in the second Amelia run. Goshen and Amelia edge in tight Clermont County tilt

In a day of baseball across Clermont County Goshen beat Amelia 8 to 7 in a seesaw finish as Wilder and Voll faced Kinner for Goshen and Channel for Amelia. Chick Brunner homered in the ninth and Voshell drove in the winning run. Mt Carmel, Loveland, Mt Crab and Milford also posted results shaping the standings.

Ohio counties and municipalities will share in the second distribution of auto license fees totaling 6 048 800 64. Clermont County will receive 25 945 20. The warrant goes to the state auditor for issuing individual warrants to county auditors.

Man to Be Tried On Cutting Charge

Claude Harney near Williamsville faces a hearing before A C Munden in Batavia at 10 a m on Thursday after a dispute over moving furniture left Thomas Russell with cuts to face neck and arm. Russell, 24, was treated at a Cincinnati hospital. Harney bonded at 500 dollars following sheriff’s investigation. Clermont County commissioners extend the due date for second half 1946 real estate taxes to July 20, delaying books closing from June 20.

John Andres Dies Suddenly Veteran of World War I

John Andres husband of Marie Bangart Andres of Mt. Carmel died at a Cincinnati hospital Wednesday morning June 25 from a heart ailment. He was a World War I veteran. Mt. Carmel Lodge of Odd Fellows will hold a service at the funeral home Thursday at 8 o'clock evening. Funeral services will be at Moore Funeral Home Batavia at 2 p.m. Friday June 27.

Child Drowns in Stonelick Creek Sunday

Carol Smock aged 9 drowned Sunday afternoon in Stonelick Creek near St Philomena Church while on a picnic with Mariemont children. A ward of Hamilton County Juvenile Court, she was a foster child of the Jacksons.

Marilyn Barber Named Secretay of Sophomore Class at Cincinnati University

Miss Marilyn Barber of Felicity named secretary of the Sophomore Class at Cincinnati University College of Nursing. She is the daughter of Dr and Mrs Cecil F Barber of Felicity and a 1945 Montreal High School graduate. Pearl Newberry served as court stenographer several days during Katherine Kernahan's absence.

Batavia Softball League Opens With Local and National Guard Match

Batavia's softball season begins this week with a colored local team facing the National Guard in the opening contest on Wednesday. A Friday match features two independent clubs as the four team league starts. Games start at 6 30 p m at Batavia High School diamond under slow pitch rules. The Batavia Athletic Committee led by Bud Massey organized the league to boost community sports interest and support a proposed town recreation program.

Accident Cases Heard This Week

Judge Harry Britton of Clermont County Common Pleas Court presided over three auto accident jury cases this week. Each suit involved a minor plaintiff. Norman Craig sued Herbert Devore for 5000 and was awarded 250. Emerson Trees won 288 against Carroll McKinney. Turkel vs Archer trial continued Wednesday with testimony incomplete at press time.

Officials to Get Pay Raise for Clermont County

Salary increases approved by the state legislature raise Clermont County elective officials pay next term. Auditors see 2695 to 3503, clerks of courts 2612 to 3087, engineer 3200 to 4160, recorder 2081 to 2353, sheriff 2277 to 2574, treasurer 2695 to 3503, commissioners 1810 to 2353, and prosecutor 2173 to 2457, with broader raises for judges and state officials.

Legion Post Seeks Funds For Building Project At Festival

During the Spring Festival from June 24 to 28 the Frank W. Weaver Post Batavia will accept voluntary donations to its Building Fund. A booth on the grounds will sell concrete blocks at 20 cents each to fund construction. Donor records will be kept and displayed in the completed home.
