Clermont Forty and Eight Initiation Held in Batavia Armory
The Clermont County Forty and Eight held their 1947 initiation at Batavia Armory on June 14. Bernard Koogler chaired a committee with Earle B. Kincaid and Voiture No. 6 Hamilton plus Voiture No. 29 Cincinnati aiding. Sixteen World War I era veterans were initiated, including Guy Sanderman and Lester Lauber from Batavia and William Smith from Cincinnati. World War II vets on the list include Walter Moreland of Bethel and Paul, Ed Colonel, Harry Howard of New Richmond, plus J. M. Griffith, Tom Bandy, Marvin Bissantz, Ora Ferree of Batavia, and others from Milford, Amelia, and Williamsburg. A buffet lunch followed prepared by Kyle Moyer and Bob Hoffman with Frank Scheiszler supervising the Armory. Dale Nichols and John Terhar of New Richmond served on the reception committee amid ongoing district commander races.

New Richmond to Fight Loss of Ferry Service
A June 23 hearing in New Richmond will address O and O Railroad’s plan to end ferry service across the Ohio River to Campbell County Kentucky. Local and Kentucky residents rely on the ferry for shopping and freight, notably J H Glaskens Woolen Mills. Paul Nobis operates the boat, in service since about 1850, as Kiwanis Club backs a case against the move.

Youth Charged With Rape In Clermont County
Harold Wallace of Batavia bound over to the Clermont County Grand Jury on rape with consent and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was held in Clermont Jail on $1,500 bond and scheduled for a July 2 hearing before Judge Halbisch.

Rev. David A. Williams succeeds Rev. J A Shirer as Amelia Methodist pastor, comes from Lynchburg after leading five churches and adding about 200 members. A former teacher and hymn writer, Williams has had hymns published. he and Mrs Williams are Ohio Diversity graduates and certified high school teachers. They have a son in high school. Mt Pisgah Community Club Aims to Strengthen Local Ties
Mt. Pisgah residents back the Mt. Pisgah Community Club formed after 1938 when the Modern Woodmen Lodge lease dispute led to a new public use plan. The group now serves 52 area families, plans remodeling, and funds its work through a ten cent monthly membership and a bed spread sale at the New Richmond Street Carnival. The club meets the third Friday each month and invites visitors.
