Goshen graduate limps to finish after injury on land clearing
Larry Brunson of Goshen High School earned his diploma while recovering from a broken leg. He was injured while helping clear land when a locust tree split during a fire department assisted move. He missed the senior trip and postponed Air Force plans but a California trip is planned for August if his leg heals. Fireman Jim Heywood and Captain Everett Cox assist as Principal Simmie Alley observes.

Two Firemen Overcome In Barn Blaze Near Amelia
In Amelia on White Oak Road Milton W. Brown’s barn fire at about 5 p m Sunday sent BMOP Fire Department crew Pollitt and Spivey into heat exhaustion while battling flames between two structures. They were rushed to Dr. E G Schultz’s office. two other firefighters Young and Gray were affected by heat but revived. Estimated damage stood at 8000 dollars.

Road Work Slated in Clermont County Townships
The State Highway Department schedules road improvements in five Clermont County townships. Route 48 section 420 in Miami and Goshen will gain T-35 upgrades with grading draining asphalt paving and drainage structures over 0.098 mile at an estimated cost of 324 400 with completion by October 31 1954. Sealed bids close July 13 for work on U S Route 52 and State Routes 131 and 133 including bridge works over Big Indian Creek Stonelick Creek and Cloverlick Creek with specific spans and road widths.

Couple Hurt In Gas Blast Sparks Fire at Home
Two people were injured in a gas explosion believed to be sparked by an electric sump pump motor. They were taken to Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in Mariemont by Williamsville Life Squad. The fire caused minor damage, confined to a burned shower curtain, with a gas hot water heater in the basement noted by officials.
