Obituary of Philip M Offutt a lifelong Hamlet resident
Philip Martin Offutt born September 2 1859 Hamlet Ohio died May 25 1942 aged 82. He served as telegraph operator train dispatcher dentist postmaster at Hamlet for 38 years and president of Clermont Publishing Co. He was a member of Georgetown Lodge 72 F and A M and Cincinnati Commandery Knights Templar No 8.

Farmers Warned No More Burlap For Duration
Local farmers were advised by Edward C. Saxton chair man of Clermont county 3-A to rely on substitutes for burlap in agricultural bags this year. Cotton Osnaburg sheetings and paper bags should be used, with emphasis on reusing old bags and weaving fabrics as needed. Paper bag supply is insured via wood pulp allocation and the War Production Board has ordered mills to increase Osnaburg and cotton bag materials.

May placements by the United States Employment Service in Ohio reached a new peak at 39,411, up five percent from April.
