Bethel proclaims Baseball Week June 19 to 25 with Barker Ball Park events honoring community teams. Mayor O H Sharp notes over $1,000 spent on uniforms for five knothole squads and a snocone machine to fund knothole activities at the Grant Memorial Building on June 25. Mt Pisgah church hosts a chicken and ham supper June 25 from 5 to 8 to benefit the church building fund.

Starting salaries are $2.75 and $2.37 an hour.
