County villages filed annual reports with State Auditor James A. Rhodes revealing 12 village governments in Clermont County had receipts of 1 660 202.54 and expenditures of 1 421 134.60 in 1959. Major income sources included property taxes 147 324.54 gasoline tax 74 917.10 and waterworks 394 218.12.
The 13th annual Campaign College will be held July 12 at Ohio State University from 9 a.m. to 2 45 p.m. The Ohio Education Association hosts in cooperation with the Ohio School Boards Association and OSU to train administrators and board members in organizing bond and levy campaigns. Registration is by writing the Ohio Education Association in Columbus Ohio.
Clermont County Council for Mentally Retarded Inc votes to create a third class for retarded children. Miss France Reece announces. The class will be at Lindale Baptist Church, following the second class started last September. The first class has operated since 1952 at Pleasant Plain. Trustees plan July 21 meetings to hire teachers and bus drivers.

In Milford near Periitown, Jean Marie Fite 20 passenger in a Miller car was killed after a three-car crash on Rt 28. Ward 35 driver charged with drunken driving and manslaughter. County school finances for 1959 show total expenditures of 6.11 million dollars with salaries about 402 thousand. Income stood at roughly 6.09 million, boosted by local property taxes and school foundation funds. County receipts include lunchroom revenue 384 thousand, state 64 thousand, federal 84 thousand, and bond loan proceeds 340 thousand, with total outstanding debt of about 6.01 million on December 31, 1959.
A petition to incorporate Chile as a village was presented to the County Commissioners. It lists 100 signatures with Josephine Strickley and Angie Patton as agents, cites 450 area residents, and notes two residents oppose. If approved, Chile would be the county's thirteenth village.
Thriftway Supermarkets of Cincinnati filed suit in Clermont County Common Pleas against John J Seaman alleging the Big Thrifty Market opened in Mt Carmel uses a confusingly similar name. The petition seeks an injunction and damages accounting for unfair competition. Thriftway plans a Mt Carmel supermarket opening.
Clermont County Planning Commission denied two subdivision requests for not meeting new regulations. Orlando W. McBride was refused permission to build part of Wesley Drive without curbs and gutters in Beechwood Acres No 2 Union Township. Harold A. Emery’s 16‑lot Lakeside Park No 4 Miami Township plat was disapproved as a community sewage system was required.
A special registration for students entering school in September is set for June 27-28 from 9 am to 12 noon. It applies to students not previously registered, from kindergarten through grade six, with parents urged to ensure enrollment for book purchases and room assignments before the new term.
