Frank W. Weaver Post of Batavia will burn unserviceable flags in a public disposal ceremony on July 29. The event follows the Flag Code guidance that flags no longer fit for display should be destroyed privately and with reverence. Citizens may bring unserviceable flags to the post for disposal.

Car Crashes Hit Mt. Holly Grocery. $5,000 Damage Reported
State Patrol identified Kenneth Clifton Jr. from Cincinnati as the driver who ran a stop sign and collided with Whittle's Grocery, causing a cave-in and moving two large refrigerated cases. Owner Otha Whittle said the front was ruined and business halted. No injuries to the driver. A separate Amelia Olive Branch crash injured two youths riding in a car that hit a utility pole near Clough. One driver Arnold Clepper and passenger Boyd Billingsley were hospitalized with abrasions and facial injuries.

Kiwanis Pony Show Set For Owensville Fairgrounds
Owensville Kiwanis Club sponsors an all pony show at the fairgrounds at 1 p.m. Sunday July 10. The Southern Ohio Pony Club will conduct 12 class events plus three half mile races for pony classes. The Woodruff Memorial Trophy debuts this year and will stay with the yearly winner unless won three consecutive times. Free-will offering suggested, proceeds benefit Owensville Kiwanis youth activities.

Motorist Injured When Car Strikes Pole in Amelia
Alfred Shelton, 53, of Route 1 Hamersville, was injured at 4 15 a m Tuesday when his car hit a utility pole on West Main Street near Nurse Powers funeral home. He was hospitalized at Our Lady of Mercy in BMOP Life Squad ambulance. Police Chief Ed Nehus said Shelton, eastbound, had taken heart medication and was not supposed to be driving.

Brewster to End Financial Career at Milford Savings
John P H Brewster, executive officer of the First Milford Savings Association, will retire July 1 after more than 25 years. The bank's assets have nearly tripled since he joined, with savings accounts rising from 1461 to over 600,000 and reserves and profits up to 500,000. The association also built a $175,000 colonial main building at Main and Locust Streets. Brewster, a leading Milford figure, helped many residents buy homes during his career.

Rangers Continue Probe Of Looting
The Clermont Rangers pursue two break in cases last week at Corbins Store near Monroe School and at McClanahans Store in Monroe town with cigarettes postage and pennies taken. They have leads on a mower theft at Laurel Cemetery earlier in spring. A $100 reward is offered by Monroe township trustees for the mower return.

Charles P. Stewart age 82, retired attorney for the New York Central Railroad, died Monday, June 20. Funeral services were held June 23 at Monroe Funeral Home with burial at Greenlawn Cemetery. He and his wife Florence were prominent at Paxton and Comargo Roads, Loveland, and he belonged to Walnut Hills Lodge of Masons, the Scottish Rite, and the Shrine.
