Ohio Senate Ends Extraordinary Session With 158 Million Budget
In an extraordinary session summoned by Governor Davey, the Ohio Senate approved a biannual appropriation bill of 158 million dollars for state government over the next two years. The 22 to 8 vote occurred near midnight with many members absent. The chamber, led by Lieutenant Governor Yoder and the Hatchet Men, also adopted a Clermont County backed resolution to limit Senate consideration to appropriation bills, complicating the governor’s funding agenda. Funeral services set for former Probate Judge Charles Malebary
Judge Dennis J. Ryan presiding in Hamilton appointed Judges Charles S. Bell Charles W. Hoffman Alfred Mack John H. Druffel Louis J. Schneider and Robert N. Gorman as honorary pallbearers for the funeral services of former Probate Judge Charles Malebary. The Vorhis funeral home in Norwood will host the Thursday 10 a.m. service with the body to lie in state Wednesday. Malebary died of a heart attack in a downtown dentist’s office on Monday and will be buried at Laurel Cemetery in Madisonville. He was a well known figure in Batavia and Clermont County.

Clermont County Trustees Terms Election Notice
The Clermont county election board reports from the Secretary of State that two trustees will be elected in November for four years and one trustee for two years. In 1989 one trustee will be elected for four years, then all trustees for four year terms. The township clerk will be elected in 19389 for a four year term and thereafter all township officers will be elected quadrennially taking office January 1.

Suit to Recover in Common Pleas Court
A suit was filed June 18 in the Common Pleas court styled State of Ohio ex rel Frank A Roberts prosecutor versus George A Maxfield and Chas A Pringle. Demurrer overruled with Maxfield excepting. The amount in question for Maxfield is 4451.12. Maxfield was deputy auditor and Pringle a contractor, both convicted for presenting false claims.

Re Route 74 survey plans for Williamsburg entrance
State highway engineers began surveying for a new Route 74 entry into Williamsburg at Yellow Hill. The hill section closed four months after February floods caused a slide. Detours use the old toll road. survey may enter via Fifth Street, one block west, to remove the grade and Hast Fork curves.

New Doctor Opens Practice in Batavia

Albert Smith Vogler of 2390 Kemper Lane Cincinnati disappeared while fishing with a companion on the dam below New Richmond. His body was found in the backwash early morning. Vogler, a state liquor store clerk at Peebles Corner, is survived by his mother awaiting funeral arrangements. The Rohde & Son Funeral Home coordinated the removal.

Coasters Injure Boys After Night Collision in Batavia
Albert Wilder aged 12 and Claude Preston aged 15 coasted down Bishop hill when their wagon collided with Pat Sullivan’s auto near Guy Craver’s residence. Wilder suffered two fractured ribs and bruises while Preston injured his ankle. Sullivan and accompanying women escaped injury. George Gregg drove the youths to Dr. Ashburn’s office. The hill is smooth and steep and prone to fast runs.

August Carlier Dies Wednesday at 69
August Carlier of Owensville died at his home on Wednesday June 16 at age 69. He spent most of his life on a Stonelick farm and recently retired from farming. Surviving children are Marie Carlier and Harry Carlier of Owensburg, and Leo Carlier of Stonelick. wife Carrie Craver Carlier preceded him. Funeral services were at St Andrew Church with John J Craver as director. Requiem High Mass was held Friday at 9:30 a.m.

Reddy Speaks at Batavia on Red Cross Flood Relief
