Silas Bryan a 40 year old Milling Machine Company employee from Norwood narrowly escaped death Monday night when a toppled metal flag pole struck a live high tension line. The 28000 volt contact burned his feet as he was stunned and hospitalized. a blown breaker saved his life.
Clermont County Commissioners met in adjourned session at Batavia on Monday June 7 1937 with all members present. They approved adding Newtonsville Woodland Park Road to the county highway system and authorized warrants for numerous bills including supplies for jail office and auditors, gas and oil, and various road project expenses and estimates.
A birthday celebration honored J. M. Fitzpatrick on his 77th at Bethel Baptist Church last Thursday. Sponsored by the Booster Class he taught for 40 years, the event drew 100 attendees including John Stout and Clarence Kennedy. Kelley Smith chaired, a luncheon featured all the cakes, and a 23 jewel watch was presented in appreciation. Out-of-town guests included John Friend and Milford family, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ludlow of Hamlet.
