County Board of Education Holds Five Meetings in Batavia
Five county education board meetings were held in Batavia last Monday. P. E. Wilson of Bethel was reelected to a five year term on the county board of education. The board urged redistricting with as few districts as possible. The southern district elected E. H. Pattison as superintendent for three years with a $300 salary increase, half paid by the State. Northern and Central district meetings were postponed due to a legal question and lack of quorum. The county board will reconvene July first and second and meet June 26 to discuss redistricting.

Mad dog attacks child near Batavia. shot by neighbor
A supposed mad dog roamed near Batavia last Monday morning. It entered Albert Ansteat's yard where his daughter Marguerite was attacked, sinking a tusk into her forehead before being driven off. The animal crossed a bayou and was shot by Ezra Seyler near the island below the house. The head was sent to Columbus for rabies tests and the child received pasteur treatment. Ansteat warns he will kill any dog found on his farm.

Drowning of University Student in Ohio River
John Harcourt Franklin a 28 year old University of Cincinnati student who would have graduated last Saturday night drowned in the Ohio river above New Richmond on June 16 during a group outing. After a game a plunge led to his disappearance as the current swept him downstream despite rescues attempts by friends. He was studying for the ministry and was well liked. Searching parties dragged the river without finding him. His family and friends are deeply grieved.

Auto wreck near Higginsport on Brown county trip
While traveling in Brown county last week the Boles family met with an accident near Higginsport in a new auto. The car skidded at a narrow point and turned too suddenly causing it to go over the embankment breaking a front wheel and twisting the axle.
