The Clermont County Industrial Foundation met June 7 at Ebon C. Hill school Bethel to outline a budget and plan a membership drive for the county industrial program. The budget targets 900 businesses with a $25 yearly fee, aiming for 500 members and listing costs for personnel rent supplies equipment and misc expenses.
Five teenage boys face Juvenile Court today charged with stealing 800 dollars from St. Veronica Catholic Church in Mt. Carmel on May 28. The case fell together after two youths bought a Coney Island spree with some of the money and a key to the parish office enabled access during the noon mass. The group fled to Buxton Road, divided the cash, and burned church envelopes and bags while deputies continue to check if others shared in the theft.
County officials plan a June 28 Chicago trip to pursue federal funds for a feasibility study of a county sewer system. They will meet John P. Harris at the FHFA. County Commissioner Mon day approved travel costs for County Engineer Carl Rush and Prosecutor Ralph Hill, joined by A E Suro and William Frye. Locust CornerPierce Township Civic Association invites all residents to a June 28 meeting at 8 p.m.
Batavia Evangelical United Brethren Church invites Mr. and Mrs. Paul Westbrook as guests of honor for an evening of social fellowship on Wednesday June 21 at 8 oclock. The event marks Mr Westbrooks assignment to a charge in the Southeast District of Ohio Miami Conference effective June 11 1961 with the Brown County Parish among several student charges. He will continue ministry studies and serve from the Parsonage in Mowrystown.
County officials heard Auditor J. Paschal outline finances with some departments near salary-only balances. July 10 will bring clearer figures after half-year tax data, while a possible staff reduction looms if funds run short.
Township trustees notify county officials they will meet to discuss establishing garbage incinerators in the county. The reply follows a contact by commissioners who said cooperation of township and village officials is essential for feasibility. Trustees Fred Aicholtz, George Schafer, Stanley Cann and Thomas Clepper express interest in progress and findings.
Owensville Garden Club will hold a flower show June 29 at St. Louis School. Any garden club may enter and the show is open to the public, according to Elsie Brossart, publicity chairman.
Capt William J Wright of Ft Thomas police was found innocent of public intoxication by Batavia Mayor Richard Jamieson after an altercation at Third and Main Streets. Wright was judged not guilty on the intoxication charge though disorderly conduct was cited.
Mt Holly United Church of Christ will honor senior citizens and married couples during a worship service on Sunday June 25. Rev Samuel B Wenger selects "Gathered Grapes" as the sermon. Service starts at 10 45 am after Sunday school.
Ft Thomas Kentucky resident pleaded in nocent but was convicted of the same charge and fined ten dollars plus costs.
Roy C Thompson author of History of Clermont County Schools plans publication with the Clermont County Historical Society and PTA Council. Material was written in 1940 as a thesis for his master’s degree. The book covers county schooling from the first school to 1940 and an updated chapter. Proceeds will be shared and donated to a scholarship fund administered by Thompson and two appointed trustees.
Summerside five year old Larry Sharpe son of Mr and Mrs Dwight Sharpe of 626 Arlington Dr Summerside Estates was rescued by North Union volunteers after his leg was wedged in a ground hole for over an hour. Firemen dug a three foot wide hole to free the limb at Arlington and Carefree Dr where a street sign had been removed. Mrs Sharpe said pranksters removed signs last Halloween creating dangerous post holes in the neighborhood.
