Timber Lake South Dakota settler wins land draw

M. Smith of Jackson township drew a 160 acre quarter section in the Standing Rock and Cheyenne Indian Reservation opened for settlement May 1. Bakery Workers Enjoy Outing at Highland Park

A group from Strietmann Baking Company in Cincinnati rode a three car special train drawn by an electric mule to Highland Park last Saturday. They spent the day boating fishing and playing games with refreshments and hearty meals. Festive horns decorated with colorful paper were blown on the trip there and back as merriment marked the excursion.

Jones Buys Clermont County Citizens Telephone Property

W Guy Jones of Columbus bought the Clermont county Citizens Telephone property for 1500 under a court sale ordered by the receiver Bailey W. Gilfillen. The sale covered seven exchanges and was the fourth offering with Jones the sole bidder. Transfer will occur later with plans to finance and expand service.

The Kenton county Kentucky grand jury dismissed Rev. Watson W. Tranter of the M. E. church New Richmond after finding evidence insufficient to prove he forged his brother's name on a vote for six thousand dollars. Congregation and friends cheer acquittal.

Drowned Man Charles Rimpler in Little Miami River

Charles B Rimpler 21 of Cincinnati drowned Sunday morning while rowing a skiff on the Little Miami River at Epworth Heights. Officials recovered the body and the coroner ordered removal to Loveland for an inquest, the physician ruling accidental drowning.

Young Life Ends in Accidental Shot by Brother

Francis Applegate, 12, accidentally shot in the neck and shoulder by his brother Merwin while returning from a cornfield with a shotgun to shoot crows. He died about two hours after wounding. He lived near Mt. Crab. funeral held at the Applegate home and Union Cemetery, Batavia.

Prof. C. A. Puckett of Lynchburg Highland County has been chosen superintendent of Owensville schools at a salary of 85 dollars per month. He previously supervised Lynchburg schools for 12 years and is deemed fully qualified for the Owensville post.
