Lykins Oil Company buys the former Day Heights Hardware Store and plans a liquidation sale on Friday June 20 to clear the stock. Owners Guy B Lykins Guy W Lykins and Don Lykins will open a new store offering stoves air conditioning furnaces and auto tires. The Old Virginia Shake Shop becomes Goolsby Insurance Center with repainting and landscaping. Scotscraft Dry Cleaners opens run by Bob and Mrs Mary Scott with a drive in window for faster service.

Mrs. Julia Liggett Hess of Williamsburg a Miami University student and member of the 100 voice A Capella Singers returned to Cincinnati on June 17 after a European tour with the Miami choir directed by George F Barron. The group accompanied the Cincinnati Symphony on a tour starting May 16 at New York Philharmonic Hall, with appearances in Vienna Hamburg Bergen Berlin Rotterdam Luxembourg Bordeaux Lausanne Paris Brussels and London. They performed Bru Becco's The Light in the Wilderness Beethoven Ninth and Barber Prayers of Kierkegaard, amid enthusiastic critical acclaim.

PCA Employees Attend Seminar in Columbus for Growth
Six men from the local Production Credit Association joined 86 PCA staff at a two day men’s training seminar in Columbus held June 9 and 10. The session, led by Tom Lawrence of Lawrence Leiter Co., focused on Managing for Growth and followed last year’s sales and communications program. The Lebanon PCA manager said such training keeps employees updated on trends. The local PCA has over 8.3 million dollars outstanding to 1167 farmers across Clermont, Brown, Warren, Highland, Clinton, Hamilton and Butler Counties. Attendees: Frank A.
