Ground Breaking Sunday Starts Tate Monroe Water System

The Tate Monroe Water Association wins a $3.5 million FHA guaranteed loan to fund Ohio s first private water system in Clermont County. Ground breaking is Sunday at 2 p.m. on the Western Campus Bethel School with Monday construction. 170 miles of main and 10 000 people to be served in two townships.

NASA Space Mobile Exhibit in Batavia Courthouse Annex II

The NASA Space Mobile exhibit comes to Batavia June 13 at 7 p.m. at the Courthouse Annex II with miniature space equipment models, space food samples, a film and lecture. Children receive certificates signed by Apollo astronauts. Also Clermont County Republican Club meets June 12 at 8 p.m. in the CGE building Batavia with Young Republican Club in charge.

Official Inspectors Disturb Barn Swallow Maternity Ward

The Clermont County Bureau of Weights and Measures inspected gasol line delivery trucks in a barn behind the County Service Center. Inspector Elmo Durbin and Rex Moore checked gauges as four fledglings stare down a shaky start and the swallows endure the disturbance.

Clermont County Hospital Commission selects Bauer Road site for proposed hospital to be run by Sisters of Mercy. Site at Bauer Road and Appalachian Highway covers 25 acres with 500 feet frontage, chosen for terrain access and utility proximity. Project to be named Clermont County Hospital after a countywide contest.

Canoe Race in Ohio Highlights Close Finish and Record

A Kentucky team of Curtis Wilhoite and Fred Tuttle from Georgetown won the men’s division of the Little Miami River race from South Lebanon to Milford, covering 30 miles in 3 hours 21 minutes 12 seconds. Cincinnati entrants Ray McLain and R. M. Cartier finished second, seven minutes back, while Olympic contender Roland Muhlen and Thor Bonemus of Springfield set a cruising record at 3 hours 1 minute 23 seconds, eight minutes under the old mark. The event drew more than 100 canoists and was co sponsored by Flerlage Marine and Little Miami Inc.

The Little Miami and East Fork Rivers Historical Society will meet Friday June 13 at 8 p.m. at 301 Main Street Milford to view Howard A. Miller’s collection of large American flags and their histories. Refreshments served. guests welcome. A board meeting follows Monday June 16 at 8 p.m. in the Couse Annex II.
