Grand Jury In Session Reports Several Major Cases
The regular grand jury is called for duty today to hear several important cases. Bus driver in Owensville wreck faces grand jury review
J R Polk driver of the bus in the Owensville crash waived examination and case was continued for grand jury consideration. Bond set at 250 dollars by his father. Polk says the bus was traveling about 35 mph on his first route in 14 months from Washington D C H to Cincinnati. Four people died in the collision as investigators note possible racing on the road.

The report says tobacco is mostly set and doing fine though some plants are unprotected. Alfalfa hay yields are heavy and being saved between showers, vital for dairymen. Corn is planted or worked over in most areas with late-season maturing possible. Potatoes are good, but July 4 roasting ears and tomatoes are not expected locally.
Father of Eleven in Hillsboro Aide Sought for Wife Shooting
Charles Shingledecker fifty five, living on the road between Harrisburg and Folsom, is sought on a charge of shooting his wife Ida forty eight fatally wounding her about 10 o clock Saturday morning. She was rushed to Hillsboro hospital with the left arm partly shot off and many wounds in the abdomen. The couple have eleven children with three in Dayton and others aged four to fourteen. Neighbors say they argued over various difficulties and the husband had threatened to shoot and kill himself. After sending the children away he shot her and broke the gun over her head. The lone surviving shot was fired as the weapon broke. the house porch was splattered with blood and flesh.
