Indicted for Manslaughter in Clermont County
Jesse R. Polk bus driver was indicted by the Clermont county grand jury on four single and one joint counts for manslaughter in the June 3 1929 crash near Owensville that killed Dr Edwin C Ireton and three others. The jury examined 35 witnesses, issued 10 true bills, and viewed the accident scene with officials before reporting. Polk faces arraignment in Batavia Friday on five manslaughter charges before Judge White. bonds and trial dates to be set.

St Johns Day Observed by Batavia Masons and Knights
The Batavia Masonic Lodge honored St Johns day with an evening service at the M E church led by Rev Troxel and Rev Bonham. Henry Grad sang two solos and the Knight Templer band with 40 uniformed Cincinnati Knights headed a long march from the Masonic hall to the church. Chas Yost organized the event. many Knights came with wives and visitors. Refreshments followed and visitors received compliments.

Drug Store Robbed in New Richmond Burglary
The Economy Drug Store owned by William Hartman was burglarized last Saturday night with $200 in cigarettes stolen and register emptied. Intruders gained entry by cutting a hole in the glass door and unlocking it. The Morris Henderson garage was also entered with tires and gasoline taken. Sheriff Roberts and deputies Meinken and Kain were alerted but no clues yet.

Miami Township man pleas guilty to manufacturing liquor
Harvey Sexton of Gally Hill, Miami township, pleaded guilty before Judge Chas White in Common Pleas Court to manufacturing liquor. He was sentenced to one to five years in the Ohio Penitentiary, with a $500 fine and costs. A 100 gallon still was confiscated. his two sons were released on bond and returned to the farm. Sheriff Roberts and Deputy Meinken transported Sexton.

State highway project earmarks $120000 in Clermont County
Clermont County Auditor B L Ketchum announced from State Highway Director Ward in Columbus that $120000 has been set aside for improvements on State highway I C H 41 EK from the Hamilton county line to three miles west of Batavia near the Harry Jennings home. Work will begin after preliminaries and advertising. Fences will be moved and some buildings removed from the right of way. The road bed will be 20 feet wide with macadam water bound surface. This marks the start of the Cincinnati to Portsmouth line project.
