DUI enforcement grows as patrol cites hundreds in 1976
Batavia Post troopers issued over 700 DUI citations across Clermont and eastern Hamilton counties in late 1976. Average blood alcohol was 0.15 percent. 74 percent of arrests were on Fridays and Saturdays, mostly on state highways. Ages 18 to 35 were the largest group, 84 percent men. Prosecutor Pattison notes 45 percent went to disposition on first offenders with average fines around 160 dollars and typical 2 day jail or 74 hours. Statewide DUI caseload rose in 1986 to 1,776 citations to court with total county and juvenile cases over 2,200.
