Laurel Man Near Death After Barn Fight

Orville Shaffer of near Pt Pleasant is jailed on assault with intent to kill charges after a brawl Saturday at an old Laurel barn left Cliff Jones near death. Jones suffered scalp injuries. Shaffer was bound over by a Batavia grand jury with a $1000 bond.

Bethel Doctor 101 Undergoes Cataract Surgery

Dr. W. E. Thompson of Bethel, who turns 101 on July 6, had cataract removal operations on both eyes this Saturday at Holmes Hospital in Cincinnati. He aims to regain about 90 percent of his normal vision and is noted as the oldest practicing physician in the United States.

Veterans Receive Bonus Bonds in Clermont County

About 1400 World War II veterans in Clermont County received a share of 500000 in U S Bonus Bonds as post offices distributed them Monday and Tuesday. The Batavia office handled about 100 bonds with most cashing in bonds. average payout was around 400 per veteran and several Batavia veterans obtained 1589.00.

He completed six years of night study and graduated with highest honors among night civil engineering students. Mail Pouch Found After Kentucky Post Office Break In

The California Kentucky post office was entered on May 80 and several mail pouches stolen. One pouch was recovered near Gee bill by Marshal Frank Perry Sheriff Auxier and J Colon el Jr. It contained about $100 in stamps while supplies and blank contracts were left undisturbed. Officials pursued chicken thieves. that same night the New Richmond station was robbed and a pair of shoes bought there was found in the pouch.

Summerside and Mt. Carmel 4-H Club Plans Ball Game

The Summerside and Mt. Carmel Boys 4-H Club met at the school house June 12 at 2 pm. The secretary read the minutes and members agreed to a ball game with Olive Branch 4-H Club on June 27. Plans included a Coney Island excursion and project discussions with Rev. C W Robbins. Recreation followed the game, and the meeting adjourned to meet June 25 at 2 pm.

London Knox Head Strong GOP Ticket

Over 500 Clermont County 4 H Club members and parents will visit Coney Island next Wednesday for the annual 4 H Club Day. Clermont joins Brown and Hamilton counties in sponsoring the outing with special ticket rates and plans for a park day including a trip on The Island Queen and a Clermont County 4 H band.

Pattison of Union Central Life Insurance. Pattison claims a contract to convey a Washington Township farm. the case center on jurisdiction between Clermont and Franklin counties and the proper forum for probate matters. Pattison is a former governor candidate and son of John M. Pattison.
