Batavia hosts a four day carnival July 1 through 4 featuring special free attractions each day. Drum corps from multiple cities contest for prizes, a fireworks display at the school ground, a beauty contest, baseball and athletic events, and mechanical wonders including Waxo the Mechanical Man and The Girl With a Thousand Lives. Admission is 35 cents with crowds drawn from Clermont county and beyond.

County to Repair Roads with Stone Throughout County
At the June 8 meeting the County Commissioners ordered the County Surveyor to prepare plans and specifications for placing 18 800 yards of stone on every named road across the county. Each road and its township will be listed in the commissioners report. This paving plan will create employment for many men.
