G A R veterans gathered last Saturday in Batavia to outline the 1908 encampment. O P Walker led the session with James Robinson as adjutant. August 6 and 7 at the Boston Fair Grounds were set as the encampment dates, with committees formed for speakers, grounds, and privileges. Citizens welcomed the occasion as warm sunshine broke another long spell, lifting village life with springlike activity.

William Crane Dies After Family Tragedy in Batavia
William Crane, a Clermont county pioneer and Civil War veteran born in 1833, died Saturday morning in Batavia after a period of grief over his son. The funeral Monday at 10 o clock was large, with services by the Amelia G. A. R. post and tributes from Rev. Amacost and B. F. Miley. He is buried at Lucy Run cemetery. Probate notices list several administration accounts including Rosa Flick and Joseph E. Roselot. Chamberlain's Colic Diarrhoea remedy is praised for summer use and child safety, sold by druggists.
