Batavia Graduates Shine in City Hall Commencement

Batavia High School held its 224th commencement at city hall on Wednesday evening with a large audience. Graduates dressed in white organdy and black suits received praise for a varied program of music and readings. The class included Allen W. Ashburn Jr, Maud Avey, Nellie L. Breeding, Eva T. Clark, and others as the Batavia orchestra provided superb music. After the ceremony, graduates danced at Jamieson’s hall in what was remembered as a brilliant Batavia event.

Tragic Accident On C. and E. Road Near Clermont

George Jordan of Mt. Pisgah, 38, widower and construction worker, slept on the railroad track near California while returning from a party. A fast passenger car failed to stop, decapitating him instantly. He left a 12-year-old child and his brother William Jordan of Williamsburg took charge of the remains. The incident follows a foggy, tiresome night in a series of notes including local weather commentary and county records.

Ohio Military Institute Holds Double Graduation Celebration

The Ohio Military Institute held graduation exercises at College Hill on Thursday with a salute by the artillery to Farmers College old boys. Judge Hulick delivered the address of the day and recalled college scenes with humor. Hulick, an 1855 graduate, was joined by ex President Harrison and Bishop Walden among the guests, with Clermonters John Ayer J P Duckwall and others in attendance.
