Corner stone laying for Williamsburg school building

On Saturday June 16 at 1 pm Williamsburg will hold the corner stone ceremony for its new modern school building at Main Street. The event is led by the Clermont Social F and A M Lodge No 29 with Grandmaster Johnson presiding. The program includes talks by architect Hannaford and Board of Education president Chas Dudley, a flag presentation by the Junior Order, and a parade led by the Williamsburg band.

Clermont County Federation of Women's Clubs Meeting Review

The twenty third annual Clermont County Federation of Women's Clubs gathering was held June 7 at M E church New Richmond. Members praised hospitality Fort nightly Club, sang America and local songs, and heard reports on libraries Red Cross schools and public welfare. State federation guests spoke on education and home economy with plans to improve community life. The next meeting will be held in Batavia.

Married at Bride's Home in Batavia

Lee Miller youngest son of Mr and Mrs Fred Miller and Miss Mabel Schultz daughter of Mr and Mrs John Schultz were united in marriage Saturday evening at the bride’s parents home Owensville in the presence of many friends. They will reside in Batavia and received many presents. Rev Topekitee performed the ceremony.

Swartz Taphorn Couple Wed at Holy Trinity Church

Clarence Taphorn of Olive Branch and Irene Swartz of Batavia were married at Holy Trinity church last Wednesday morning with Rev. Father Evers officiating. Irene Swartz is the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Swartz of Batavia. The couple will reside in Cincinnati.

Walter W Moore wins three prizes at Miami Military Institute

Walter W Moore, class 128 at Miami Military Institute Germantown Ohio, earned the Tal bott prize for conduct, an oratorical award, and a marksmanship prize. He belongs to Alpha Chi Sigma and is grandson of the late E J Hutchinson former Clermont county commissioner.

Cincinnati revives its Fall Festival and Industrial Exposition with a $500000 budget. The event runs August 25 to September 8 featuring a $50000 electrical display at Washington Park and a large exhibition hall complex built by local carpenters. Tobacco checks arrive for Burley growers

Burley growers and members of the Burley Marketing Association have begun receiving the third distribution of checks from association headquarters. The latest sum is about four-fifths of the first payment, and growers report strong satisfaction with the payout. The association holds back the best of the 1922 crop for quick marketing after redrying, and a substantial fourth distribution is expected to bolster prices further.

Cicada Broods Reported in Clermont County and Sweet Clover Harvest

Clermont Farm Bureau notes several broods of the seventeen year periodical cicada found along the Ohio river near Moscow and Owensville. They damage fruit trees and avoid sprayed areas. a pruned year is recommended before emergence. The county experiment farm reports sweet clover hay yield of 7700 pounds per acre after liming and favorable spring growth. Clyde F. Tom, County Agent.

Real Estate Transfers Reported for Monroe and Nearby Townships

A list of property transfers this week includes Eli H. Speidel to Homer A. Fagin 51 acres in Monroe Township for $1, Mardena Myers to Emma Seiler 14 acres in Pierce Township for $1, and other deeds. Commissioners Proceedings Document Road and Serveral Expenditures

The county commissioners met Monday June 4 and approved numerous payments for clerk supplies road work and tax refunds. Amounts include purchases from Brown Pub Co J D Adams scarifying road and J B Osloway stone. tax refunds for Mrs Jeannette and Anna Kennedy. paving and paving-related equipment purchases. A weight limit was set for the Williamsburg covered bridge and a 19 percentage levy was adopted for multiple county funds including infirmary bridge and soldiers relief.
