The Clermont County Draft Board met at the Batavia Armory last Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm registering 175 men turning 21 since June 5, 1917. The list includes William J. Craver Jr Batavia James F. HoBoes Taken In At Batavia Depot
Seven hoboes appeared at the N and W depot in Batavia last Monday morning. Sheriff Swing and Marshal Kidd arrested those of draft age. Mike Sullivan of Jersey City produced a registration card while Eugene Roberts and Harry Wise had none but claimed to have registered. Wise had skeleton keys and was jailed for identification.

Drowning at Lake Allyn Sinks 10-Year-Old Visitor
A 10 year old girl drowned at Lake Allyn near Olive Branch while wading with friends and an aunt. The group, all from Cincinnati, were enjoying a country day when she stepped into a deep spot. The body was recovered quickly and later moved to the city. Authorities remind visitors they enter at their own risk and trespassing is prohibited.
