Ohio 4-H Club Congress Draws Youth Delegates

Ohio 4-H youths from every county attend the June 16 19 Ohio 4-H Club Congress on the Ohio State University campus. About 800 members aged 16 to 18 participate in sessions focused on personal values, goals, work, and community leadership as part of the Cooperative Extension Service program led by Virginia Evans. The Sears Roebuck Foundation and Ohio 4-H Club Foundation sponsor the statewide effort.

Volunteers Initiated To Aid Juvenile Detention In Clermont

A new volunteer program begins Monday in Clermont County Juvenile Court facilities. Kathy Weaver from Saginaw Valley College created the effort to provide regular visitors to detained youths, aiding with school work and crafts. Larry Vaughn coordinates scheduling and supervises the YWCA summer program. volunteers include Ronald Eads, Tom Schimpff, Herb Bates, Ray Spaulding, Robert Stock, Tom Plaumer, and others. Batavia Council discusses annexation and street projects

Batavia Village Council reviewed annexation prospects for the west industrial area and approved street resurfacing on Bauer Road Old Boston Road Hulick Drive and Clark Street. The panel also funded a county airport bench and awarded bids for a mechanical street sweeper and police dry cleaning service.

Officials Approve Amelia Batavia Sewer Construction Plan

Clermont County Commissioners will pass a resolution at 10 a.m. Friday to proceed with the Amelia Batavia Township Sewer System at an estimated 4.4 million dollars with bids expected August 31 and construction to start within a month. The Miami Township and part of Stonelick Township sewer project at 5.4 million dollars remains under favorable consideration with additional funding sources cited including a 1.2 million federal grant and a 161 177 state grant plus a 430 115 loan to ease costs for about 2500 potential property owners.

Plumbers Near Day Heights Convene June Meeting

Clermont County Plumbers Association will meet June 18 at 8 p.m. at Ralph Johnson's Plumbing Shop in Day Heights. President Gene Anderson urges all county plumbers to attend for several important matters followed by refreshments and a social hour. Commissioners Open Bids On Airport Improvements

County commissioners opened bids for airport upgrades including a taxiway drainage work and a coo building. Brewer Co. of Cincinnati submitted the low taxiway bid at 45428 vs 48080 engineer estimate, while Eugene Honaker of New Richmond led the terminal bid at 17391 versus 17500 estimate.

Jury Frees Williams After Second Trial

Charles Williams, 28, was acquitted in Clermont County Criminal Court after more than six hours of deliberation. The case involved drowning his wife Joann in a tub. Williams had been retried after a prior life sentence for second degree murder was overturned due to improper evidence.
