Land Acquisition Rules Outlined For Reservoir Construction

The U S Army Corps of Engineers outlined land purchase procedures for the East Fork Reservoir in Clermont County at a Batavia High School hearing. Officials showed maps and listed initial parcel owners with acreages, and noted a 15 450 acre land taking and a planned 1970 completion with an estimated 6 5 million dollar construction cost.

Clermont Board Names James Gibson New Supervisor

The Clermont County Board of Education appointed James G Gibson former Dean of Students at Morehead State University as staff supervisor in secondary education. He will start August 1 and focus on curriculum development and programming. Gibson holds A B and M A from Morehead State and did graduate work at Marshall University. He previously led as principal in Ashland Kentucky Public Schools and served as teacher principal in Brown and Rowan counties. He is active in professional groups and served eight years in the USAF. He is past president of the Brown County Education Association and Morehead State. Gibson plans to base his family in Clermont County.

Eighteen Filed Petitions for Clermont County Offices

Eighteen candidates have filed petitions with the Clermont County Board of Elections and many more have obtained petitions to circulate. Names include Maurice D. Bernges for Milford mayor and several township trustees and clerks across Williamsburg Tate Jackson and Wayne townships, plus Owensville and New Richmond council members and school posts.

Anstaett Day Set in Amelia for Mr Baseball Stanley Anstaett

Amelia observes Stanley Anstaett Day on June 17 with a 2 p.m. program at Anstaett Field behind Amelia Elementary School. Boy Admits Causing $100000 Fire in Batavia Block

A 10 year old boy admitted starting the Sunday blaze that damaged four stores and offices on Market Street in Batavia. He said he placed paper from a trash bucket in a barrel then left and returned 15 minutes later to see the fire. Authorities will consult his parents and the county juvenile court.

Zoning Appeal Denied in Clermont County Case

Clermont County Common Pleas Judge M Dale Osborne upheld Union Township Trustees denial of Omni Development Corp Inc zoning change to allow 114 apartment units at Mt Carmel The ruling found the trustees acted in a legislative capacity and not subject to appeals to the Court of Common Pleas under 2506 01 of the revised code

Batavia High Students Honored for Red Cross Volunteering

Thirteen Batavia High School students, all Red Cross volunteers, were recognized at a picnic for their work in the Clermont Logopedics Center Speech therapy program. Seven youths were cited for 25 hours of Saturday therapy at Batavia Junior High School, including Denise Bucher Margaret Crouch Linda Didday Marci anne Evans Paula Fortney Steve Hahn and Steve Naylor. Other honorees included Becky Ashley Theresa Collins Molly Hoberg Vicki McCormick and Tara Tyler.

Tax Foreclosure Suits Filed in Clermont County Court

Three delinquent tax foreclosure actions have been filed in Clermont County Common Pleas Court to recover 800000 in back taxes. The suits, brought by Treasurer Byron Ross and assistant Lawrence W. Carlier, target Ralph and Wilma Frueschtmeyer in Goshen Township, Delbert and Hazel Taylor in Garden Acres Goshen Township, and Wayne Richardson in Union Township. Forfeiture may follow where taxes exceed property value.

Savings High On Paving Program

Clermont County Commission bids total 40 791 under engineer estimates for 24 miles of blacktop work. Pinckney P Brewer & Sons of Cincinnati the successful bidder. Best savings seen in 82 mile surface treatment bid by William Light Construction Co Cherry Grove. Two women filed charges of assault and battery and one of malicious destruction of property against Nick Konrad Milford following an incident at Art's Chili Kitchen. Konrad posted bond and is to appear in Clermont County Court June 7.
