Savannah River Bird Refuge Established in South Carolina
President Coolidge issued an order creating about 2 850 acres in Jasper county as the Savannah river bird refuge. The US Department of Agriculture Biological Survey administers the reserve, which covers abandoned rice lands along the Savannah river near Savannah Georgia. It becomes unlawful to hunt trap capture disturb or kill birds or wild animals or to destroy eggs within the refuge unless allowed by department rules.
