ZAC sponsors a public information meeting at Moscow Elementary Thursday June 7 at 7 30 p m. A Cincinnati insurer will discuss coverage while physicians address low level radiation and realtors discuss declining property values. An update will follow.
Commissioners approved the new Subdivision Regulations at the May 31 meeting. Planning Commission will hold a final hearing on Tuesday June 26 with Director Don Buckley signaling likely adoption at that session. The commission had earlier referred the proposal on July 25 last year and made amendments on April 24 and May 23 1979. A public hearing was held May 24 1979 on the regulations. Batavia Clermont College to hold sixth annual convocation Sunday June 10 at 2 p.m. in Krueger Auditorium with Dean Edith P. Jones inviting community attendance. Ohio State and various preparatory speakers will be principal speakers and awards will be made to graduates.
The Clermont County League of Women Voters elected officers for 1979 81 with Linda Woods as president Grate Christy as vice president Bonnie Frey as secretary Monica Clark and Linda Hoffman as directors. Continuing are Jill Koenig Jean Hellyer Mary Pat Latham and Jane Oblinger.
In a peaceful demonstration estimated at 1000 protesters near Zimmer, 28 arrests occurred. Two defendants pleaded not guilty while pretrial dates were set for June 14 for Thomas Edward Carpenter and others. Each defendant paid 43 dollars in fines plus 18 dollars court costs and 25 dollars of a 250 dollar fine with 225 suspended, total penalties reflecting the orderly protest. Five attorneys from the Civil Liberties Union, including three women and two men, represented six groups within the Ohio River Alliance prosecutor George E. Pat. Rosenhoffer was notified of proceedings.
Ford officials met Clermont officials for three hours to discuss tap in fees for Ford Motor Company property management. They agreed to present the proposal to top management within ten days. A guaranteed contract would secure Ford’s continued use of the system for ten years until bonds are paid. County bonding limits and financing realities quoted by Conners Reckers and others shaped the talks. A 24 inch interconnecting pipeline and tank completion were central issues, with contamination and revenue safeguards cited.
The Tax Abatement Policy Board, in its first decisions on abatement applications, voted 6-3 to approve or disapprove requests presented over a 3.5 hour meeting attended by about 40 people. The decisions now go to Clermont County Commissioners for final approval. Developer Flannery, involved in the $50 million Mell project, voiced disappointment over the ruling.
County Administrator Bruce Henry tendered his resignation, accepted after two adjourned sessions. Croswell attempted to table action at two meetings and read a statement noting the resignation would take effect Friday.
