Gerald Iles of Batavia receives two road improvement awards in Clermont County with a low bid of 7954.66. Projects cover 4.05 miles on State Route 1774 in Franklin and Tate Townships and 0.461 miles on State Route 743 in Washington Township, from an estimated cost of 8918.26.

Arraignment set for Monday after grand jury indictments

Ten indictments returned by the Clermont County Grand Jury include arson and assault and battery. Those named will appear in Common Pleas Court for arraignment on Monday.

Parades Honor War Dead Across Clermont County

Veterans groups and local units joined in Memorial Day ceremonies in Batavia and Clermont County. The Frank W. Weaver Post American Legion, Batavia Post Veterans of Foreign Wars, Scouts, the Batavia band and other groups marched in the downtown parade followed by a cemetery ceremony at Batavia Cemetery.

Batavia Grange Set to Meet Thursday Evening

The Batavia Grange will hold a regular session Thursday evening June 5 at 8 o clock. A brief memorial service will be observed for members who died during the year. Fred Winter will be present to show pictures after the business portion.

COP Veteran Club to Receive Charter in Batavia

A charter presentation by the War Veterans Republican Club of Clermont County is set for Friday at 8 p.m. in the Batavia Armory. State officers will hand the charter to local officials and a board of directors will be named. The group formed May 16 with Tom Pierson as president and Harold Simmons as recording secretary treasurer.

Scouts of Clermont County Hold 1947 Camp Outing

The Clermont County Scouts plan a two day camp at Cedar Lake near Goshen on June 7 and 8. Over 250 boys will camp 40 by 40 foot sites with patrol judging and ribbons. Protestant and Catholic services will be held with Rev Harold Frye leading the Protestant service.

Burger Farm Plows 60 Acres of Corn Before Weekend Rain

Linus Burger and his son Paul pressed long hours to finish planting 60 acres of corn on their Clermont County farm along Route 50 between Perintown and Milford. They grow oats and other crops using horses and a tractor on picturesque bottomland with green hills framing the skyline.

Dudleys Welcome 8-Pound Son in Batavia

An eight-pound son was born to Mr and Mrs Jack D Dudley of Batavia at 1 20 pm on Decoration Day at Good Samaritan Hospital. Mother and child are doing fine. Mrs Dudley is the former Miss Wilma Nebel of Charlotte NC. Her husband is a Batavia High School graduate and a Cincinnati Enquirer reporter.

Flag Presented by VFW Post of New Richmond

Sunday afternoon an American flag was presented by the Ohio Valley VFW Post of New Richmond to the New Richmond Daughters of America. Representatives from the America Batavia and Felicity Posts and Auxiliaries attended the ceremony. A firing squad from the Felicity Post commanded by Paul Lauderback participated.

Batavia VFW to Stage Home Talent Show

Clermont County VFW Post in Batavia will present the home talent musical comedy Gornzapoppin on June 18 and 14 contest. There will be separate prizes for boys and girls and entrants must be six years old or under. Contact Mrs Irwin Kain in Batavia at telephone 268 to enter. The cast will be announced next week.
