The Clermont County Medical Society delays its Hill-Burton grant application to June 15 to allow county groups and individuals to send supportive letters. Letters from life squads veterans units churches business groups and service clubs should be mailed to Dr. Minning Batavia Dr. Winkle Batavia and Mrs. Lois Hancock Williamsburg. A fall bond issue for a 100 bed hospital and operating levy is tied to grant approval.

Phase One Underway In CG&E Natural Gas Project
Construction starts on a 250000 project by Cincinnati Gas and Electric to supply Batavia with natural gas. Six inch main laid on Old State Route 74 between Mt Carmel and Batavia connects regulator station on Broadwell road. Forty thousand feet of distribution mains to be built, with a 60 mile transmission main from Hamilton County to Batavia, and to Williamsburg later. A new 350000 office building at Fourth and Spring Streets, Batavia, is moving forward with Bachelier Construction Company as general contractor, target completion next year.

Driver In Narrow Escape Runs Car Between Two Trucks
Suder of Higginsport squeezed his car between two tractor trailers on Rt. 52 at 11 15 p m Tuesday and escaped with minor injuries. A trucker stopped to assist then moved back onto the road. Suder treated and released from Brown County Hospital. Drivers Willman and Aikeps were not injured. Earlier, two men injured on Rt 131 near Rt 50: Willard Gatch and John Clements, both Milford residents, suffered scalp lacerations and a compound shoulder fracture. they were taken to Our Lady of Mercy Hospital.

Clermont County schools will obtain $428,463 in the fourth quarter distribution of school foundation funds per State Auditor Roger W. Tracy. Local districts share $174,978 with Milford Exempted Village School District at $116,496 and New Richmond at $40,919.

Fire started in the furnace leveled the six room Iker residence at 166 Clark Street Batavia and damaged a neighboring roof at 6 30 a m. Loss from the home including a car and truck is about 8000 with 1000 damage to the roof of Tommy Iker’s home. The Ikers left for Gatlinburg Tennessee about midnight Thursday. a motorist saw the smoke and reported the fire. In Williamsburg Harry C Dennis Post American Legion to hold a social June 11 at 8 p m at the post home on East Main Street for Life Squad benefit.
