Community notices describe a Saturday project at Goshen Methodist Church with Pack 285 funds for a Wright Patterson trip on June 26. Gleneste Speedway hosts its first Smash-Up Derby of the season with 100 cars in four heats and a 20 car feature, in cooperation with Kenner Products. $500 to the winner and $100 to the runner up. Free SSP toys for the first 100 youngsters. Racing at 8 p.m. with next day stock car program at 6 p.m. time trials and 7 p.m. races plus figure 8 and amateur events.
Senior class awards announced with multiple honors including National Merit and multiple department prizes. Goshen Garden Club met May 26 to plan the Now or Never flower show set for June 5-6 with entrants from several area clubs and a public viewing schedule.
The Rev. Dave Cordrey, Milford High basketball coach and Milia Church of Christ minister, will deliver the dedication day sermon at the Milford Church of Christ on St. Rt. 131. A basket lunch is set for 12:30 p.m. and Cordrey will speak at 2:30 p.m. Radar will be popular with the common man only when it can be used to find lost golf balls.
The Cincinnati Nature Center at 4949 Tealtown road Milford near Perintown invites Clermont County residents to an open house from 2 to 7 pm on Thursday June 10. Director John Oney credits public support and outlines activities including guided trail tours displays in the Rowe Interpretive Building and an art show by Sylvia Tobler and Clermont Northeastern High School students. Refreshments will be served.
The Goshen United Methodist Church Women Society will meet on Wednesday June 9 at 7 30 pm. Speaker is Mrs Leonard Carroll district chair with the topic Life is Growing Spiritually. New officers will be installed including President Mrs Ralph Hawkins and other officers and committee chairs. The church was cited for 100 percent World Service and conference Benevolences goals. Reverend Orlo Freshly and family and Miss Wanda Allen will attend the district conference June 13 18 at Lakeside.
The Loveland school welcomed UC psychology professor and kindergarten teacher Elsie Taylor as Police Chief Robert Jordan spoke with students on safety. Mrs Dalglish demonstrated early reading problem detection and parent communication methods. she is a Milford graduate with Bryn Mawr and Columbia medical training.
Page 11 notes a Ranger Club for teenagers aged 12 to 14 meeting July 19 23 from 10 am to 3 pm with dues to cover material and staff. A second session July 26 31 runs 10 am to 3 pm with a field trip and camp out on the final two days and dues cover staff and lab supplies. For details, write or call Cincinnati Nature Center.
