Grant Trail Scouts Join In Anti-Litter Campaign

Grant Trail District teams 98 units from Clermont and Brown Counties join National Anti-Litter Day efforts. Scouts clean up state parks and roads, reporting to Congress as Project SOAR supports the nationwide cleanup with McDonald’s breakfast, Kroger bags, and local backing.

County 648 Board Studies Drug Abuse Problem in Clermont County

The 648 Board held a May 25 workshop with 60 residents and formed committees on Education Treatment and Counseling Relationship with Free Moore Work and Recreation. A May 27 staff meeting with Cincinnati Fre Clinic and Clermont County High Schools discussed student drop in centers. The board plans a summer mental retardation clinic and county commissioners contributed 5550 in cash and space.

Glen Este Man Dies In Vietnam Helicopter Crash

Sp4 Randall C. Short 21 died May 24 from injuries in a helicopter crash during a Vietnam mission. He was chief helicopter maintenance man with the 717th Air Division, U S Army, a Glen Este High School graduate who enlisted in 1969 and was to return home in about two months. He is survived by his parents Charles and the late Mrs Short, a brother Roy, and two sisters Rita Jones and Rosanne. Services are arranged by Moore Funeral Home Batavia.

Pilots Sponsor Air Show At Clermont County Airport

An air show sponsored by the Clermont County Pilots Association takes place Sunday at 2 p.m. at Clermont County Airport Olive Branch. The event features sky divers gyrocopters experimental planes and aerobatics by Barbara Mosher. Prizes from merchants and trophies for pilots will be awarded with proceeds helping retire a 1500 debt on the administration building.

Citizens Bank Opens Milford Branch Amid Legal Challenge

Citizens Bank of Felicity opens a Milford branch at 800 Main Street as Clermont National sues for a preliminary injunction. A temporary restraining order was denied by US District Court Judge Timothy S Hogan. hearing set for today in Cincinnati. Clermont alleges lack of written approval for the branch amid national charter issues and local zoning disputes.

Flood Disaster Committee Expands To Meet All Crises

At a New Richmond meeting the Flood Disaster Committee announced a pilot to broaden disaster coverage beyond floods. The executive committee led by Charles Schneider cited Western Kentucky tornadoes as a motivator for wider preparedness. The panel includes Red Cross, Sheriff, Civil Defense, Health, National Guard, Life Squad, police and fire, REACT, Highway Patrol, boards of education, and more. Mayor Charles Wrigglesworth may invite nearby communities Chile Felicity Moscow New Ville and Point Pleasant to join.

Batavia High Grad Grabs State 880 Title at Columbus Meet

Batavia High School senior Grady Reid Jr. won the 880 at the Ohio State Class A Track Meet in 1 56.5 setting a Batavia school record. He anchored Batavia’s mile relay, placing third, and has dominated county 880 events for three years. Reid, also a four year basketball letterman, may accept athletic offers and eye Rio Grande College.
