Clermont county 4-H clubs plan a leaders and officers conference June 12 at Owensville school house beginning 10 a.m. Harley Renollet of Dayton will speak and about 200 officers will attend with sessions for presidents secretaries and treasurers and a pot luck lunch followed by recreation and inspiration activities. Over 600 Clermont youth enrolled in the 1942 4-H program.

The Cincinnati field office of the United States Employment Service reports 3,687 jobs filled in April, up 30.2 percent from March 1942. Ohio state placements totaled 37,531 in April, up 27.8 percent, with 110,707 jobs filled January–April, a 40.6 percent rise over 1941. More than 94,000 applied for work in April, and total job seekers reached 194,282 at month end.

Clermont Grange honors long time members with silver stars
Clermont Grange No. 2377 held a meeting to recognize Mr. and Mrs. Edward Malott for 25 plus years of membership. They joined Miami Grange in 1916 and transferred to Clermont Grange in 1924. Silver star certificates were presented. A short program followed with songs, talks, and refreshments. Next meeting set for June 9.

Charles E. DeNike Jr. husband of Florence Laub DeNike has enlisted in the U S Army Air Corps. He is stationed at Patterson Field Fairfield Ohio in the 6th Air Depot Repair Sqdn AC. He left Crosley Radio Corp prior to enlistment May 22. He holds a pilot license and is a 1939 Amelia High School graduate who studied aviation at Withrow Junior High trade school and attended Cincinnati business school. He also studied engineering in winter at the University of Cincinnati Evening College.
